Is this a joke or are they for real...

Is this a joke or are they for real? They want to know where I live so that they could know what time it is here rather than me just telling them the timezone or giving me the option to turn the service on or off on my own will.

flux recommenders are CIA niggers confirmed. When you click the latitude and longitude button, it opens up a site that asks to see your location. And on their site when you click to see how much blue light this program removes, it asks for your age.

I wouldn't worry about it goy, it's just for convenience!

use redshift user

f.lux is proprietary software, why not you go along be a good goy and stop complaining.

How surprising.
And you needed this sort of message to know they fuck with you ?
Like always RMS was right

Are you a joke? Why are you using proprietary software?

ayy

I didn't know it was proprietary since people were recommending it in the ergonomics thread. It doesn't look proprietary anyways

Redshift needs to know your lat-lon as well to run at its best. It's because Timezones don't reflect the actual setting and rising of the sun

How fucking surprising this is what I try to warn people about for years.
Permissive license is the cancer that will kill free software
user every license isn't free/libre (copyleft) the MIT and BSD are license that can let people compile and sell the software without having to share the modifications that are made.
Their is no guaranty that the software will work correctly if you try to compile it yourself.

Who cares when the sun is rising or setting? If it's late at night I turn the thing on and when it isn't, I have it off. Nobody sets their alarm clocks to wake them up according to when the sun rises. It's nearly 4AM and I don't need to know what time exactly will the sun rise to know that I want the service to activate.

why is this board filled with drooling retards?

gist.github.com/Tafkas/4742250

it adjusts the color temperature based on sunrise and sunset, you fucking imbecile, when it's running.

redshift does the same exact thing. even then, drooling retards on this board complain about it, because they're so fucking incompetent they can't edit a config file to input the lat/lon directly.

calm the fuck down, your autistic screeching is disturbing the other boards

...

Please tell me the name of your icon theme and widget/desktop theme

Yes, it's a meme that it adjusts color temperature. It doesn't actually do that. We're all just pretending.

Do you need an application that knows your lat/lon to tell you when it's night time? How about the morning? sunset? Or do you just know because you have eyes?

Next you'll be telling us how smart you are for installing "smart lights" that call home to the cloud to adjust color temperature based on your lat/lon.

Fucking this.
If i shitpost late at night i turn on redshift for that extra comfy
if it isnt late at night i dont

$ dpkg --get-selections | egrep "(redshift|geoclue)"redshift install

I doubt redshift is actually communicating with any servers. You plug your long and lat into a local config file and unless you're already compromised in some way there's probably nothing to worry about. Either way you can just turn the fucking thing on and off or pick a lon and lat that isn't yours but that correlates with the time you want it on/off.

Of course it doesn't connect if you use manual lat and long, are you guys stupid? Use a packet sniffer if you want to see for yourself. You don't even have to install the possibility of using automatic lat and long (>>727466), let alone use it.

Nigger just call it like this whenever you feel like it
redshift -O 2700

Holla Forums is filled with over paranoid incompetent shitposters who larp as haxors while using windows. It shouldn't surprise anyone at this point

I use flux during the day and night and have constant 2700K for both.
Whenever I need to use Photoshop I turn it off to get correct colors, then turn it back on. If I'm not working with colors in photoshop I don't even turn it off.
If you have lamps in the room you won't even notice a difference between day and night if you use 2700K constantly.
I used redshift on Android but it didn't actually lower the temperature, only put a filter on the output video. So your eyes would still be pierced by annoying blue light even though it was on.

You're legitimately a fucking retard.

jej, this thread. The IQ 89 meme is real.

what's the use of the part below 6500K?
it's for mutants or what?

X11 is deprecated

I agree MIT and BSD license are shit, but Stallman himself says they are libre, at least according to his autistic definition.

Not in OpenBSD. Red riding hoods and pottery can suck it.

Not in Linux. Fedora 25, Gnome, Wayand: crashes almost instantly when I use the Steam controller; crashes reliably when I use wacom anything. X11 has no such problems.

tfw Holla Forums, 10-year-old ThinkPad, second-hand CRT monitor that's half-dead, but abandoning X11 over 'screentearing'.

they are severely autistic or serious

Eat a dick, retard.

papirus gtk is the name of the theme I believe
I think I got it from this site
gnome-look.org/browse/ord/latest/

Is this screen temperature stuff supposed to be very subtle? I don't notice any difference between "./sct 1000" and "./sct 10000"

GNOME 2.4 is adding this feature in. You can either do it by location or set the times or whatever yourself.

I hope it's built into the compositor soon, I've been maining Wayland for almost a year now and lack of redshift-esque color temperature adjustment fucks me at night.

Oh shit, Gnome 3.24 release tarballs are tomorrow. Didn't even realize they'd already frozen this feature.

pretending to be retarded? that's real good pretending

>>>Holla Forums

There's so much retard in this thread we're actually memeing ourselves into /g/

No it should be pretty noticeable

I regret having any faith in Holla Forums.
Holy shit this thread is retarded.
