Damn good looking kefka and frog there

what is this, 2003?

That happy mask,that's beautiful

these prints are from Jed Henry's Ukiyoe Heroes Portrait series in collaboration with Dave Bull
as you can see they are themed around videogame characters

yeah, they are all pretty good but I guess that one and the frog hold special memetic properties

So do they put the paper on top of the painted cut out? Is there a specific press they have to use? is any of it hand colored/painted/drawn? How do they do the Ombré? And can it be for anything other than the background?

these 2 are the last I have of the Ukiyoe Heroes Portrait series, there are more out there but I've been too tired to find them

Sweet stuff, op.

Is that Battle Toadz

they put the paper on the pigmented cutout, then they rub the pigment into the paper by rubbing the backside of the paper
some blocks have more than one color, general rule of thumb is that there has to be at least 3 fingers distance between them otherwise a new block is used
nothing his handpainted
as for how they do the shading and gradient they wet the area to be shaded with water, then the printer carefully brushes the pigment into the wet area with a soft brush
as for if they use it for anything other than background I don't realy know
sure it can be but I don't know if it's in line with tradition

Thanks

you are welcome

last 2 I have from the 'Henry Manga' series by Jed Henry
