Would gambling cease to exise in a moneyless society? Or maybe people could keep on gambling but with fantasy currencies?

Gambling is all about fixing all your problems in an instance. The adrenaline rush of "within a minute I could be king or beggar", and so on.

So, without money and so on, you'd have to gamble with … I don't know.. .. stuff?

I really don't see why you'd gamble. And with fictional money it's gaming. Not gambling.

I would be sad if horse racing and baccarat stopped being things.

I suppose you could gamble with personal possessions like a ring or book, or with dares or promises like "clean my yard" and "dance naked". I imagine most "gambling" would be betting on sports or games of cards and slot machines and lotteries wouldn't really be a thing.

Polite sage since I'm not well-read

In Star Trek the officers play poker and other card games for fun

in first year of uni we gambled, but instead of getting something if we won we were punished if we lost. For example, we would play poker, and if we lost we would have to do a line of pepper, with the amount of paper increasing depending on how much people bet (i.e. people would bet by adding more pepper to the pile). I'd like to think such wholesome activities would still exist in communism.

This is actually a really good idea.

Also: in tournament poker for example, you don't walk away with chip value. You play for positions, which have cash prizes. The chips dont represent real money. Usually only the top 7 or so get a payout.

So as with any game or sport, people will do it for the game regardless of cash prizes for winning in communism.

I have fun gambling at roulettes and blackjack, without money it wouldn't be that fun anymore. Enjoy these games while they last ;_;

Star Trek is literally the best example to go to for every "What will socialism look like" question.

Star Trek (The Next Gen, at least) is dystopic.

How come?

Have you ever actually seen what the daily lives of Federation citizens are like in the show? Not the crew of the flagship of their navy, but the citizens on earth?

What is with citizens of earth? They seem to be having normal ordinary lives.

What are you talking about? Earth seems pretty damn nice in Star Trek.

Provide examples

I imagine people will gable for trading cards

But the colonies were in a bad place stuck in interstellar politics. Cardassians and humans shooting each other. Kidnappings, terrorism. Not exactly paradise.

I dont know the show that well to be honest, are the colonies part of the same economic polity as Earth?

Problem solved

AKA playing with fake money.
It'll never be the same as with real money, for there is not effect in reality.

Hell, just look at a current mmo like runescape, the oldschool version specifically. It is rampantly filled with gamblers. There used to be entire websites just for gambling virual money. It had value because it was earned and scarce in some way.

Your actions have consequence. Lose and you will not be able to play again for the day, but go on a winning streak and you can keep playing. If you lose on a winning streak, it feels like a real loss because you put labour into it.

Why not? If you can't rebuy into a game of poker and everyone starts with the same amount of chips you can still gamble the same, the chips are valuable because they are still finite. You win prestige for placement, which is fine, as explained in
