You start downloading all of fauux's artwork, thinking that it's just aesthetics and doesn't mean anything, but before you know it you're loading GNU/Linux into a virtual machine. You tell yourself you'll just try GNU/Linux once, that it's perfectly safe and non-addictive, but then you get a taste of freedom and control - and a loss of control over yourself.

Next thing you know, you're partitioning your hard drive to install GNU/Linux onto it. You're nervous at first, like a teenage boy putting his hand up the shirt of the Wired, but you keep going. You open up the terminal and hit those magic commands into it, install your first package from the repository. You can't believe how much better this is than Windows, how much more sense it makes to be able to just install software with a few commands, without even having to reboot.

Soon you're using GNU/Linux as your main OS. You've gone so long without booting into Windows - because GNU/Linux doesn't need to even be rebooted - that you forget you have Windows on your hard drive. You've left behind all your files; you don't need them anymore. The old you is dead. The new you exists in the Wired. You're on an HMD SSH'ed into your desktop when you're not in front of it; you don't even remember what the "real" world is. You're installing Gentoo. Oh god, what are you doing. It's pretty much objectively-superior to Windows in terms of both its design and the amount of control the user has. The only reason anyone uses Windows is because Microsoft's influence had made it such that devs have tended to make software that only worked on Windows, because that's just what everyone is using. Which is why there are a lot of games that are only on Windows, for instance.

It's the embodiment of capitalism, essentially.

tbh GNU/Linux isn't even that hard to use either depending on what distro you use. Mint and Ubuntu are easy as fuck. You can almost use them without even having to open the terminal - though only bitches use GUI.

Just install Mint in a virtual machine and use the terminal for stuff. It's not that hard.

You can start off by using cd, ls, and pwd to browse the filestructure, and sudo apt-get install to install software. Whenever you're trying to do something in GNU/Linux, ask yourself if you can also do it from the command line. Since you in most cases won't be able to, I suggest you try to find a way to do so. Google it

I was a vim user before I've read SICP and tried out emacs for scheme. vim can be nice but it's a toy compared to the power of emacs.

Whenever you need to find a solution through google, it tends to be easier to tell people "do this command", rather than "Maneuver through these menu's and press these buttons etc".
Over time you end up googling some things more often than others, and suddenly using the terminal becomes habit, and suddenly you try to specifically learn how to do things through CLI's, that you used to do through menus.
Suddenly the only windows you have open ever are firefox and urxvt.

All the games I play on Steam are on Linux. If game developers don't want to support a widely-used and popular platform that is their problem.

If you need suggestions for the writing, I'd be more than happy to help. Maybe I'll throw out a suggestion or two come tomorrow in the vein of this sort of theme and tone. No guarantees though, as I will most certainly be shitfaced while attempting it.

Considering GETchan is the older board/site, I'd say it kinda makes sense that Rodina would be the physically larger of the two. If nothing else, Rodina not being depicted as a child allows for greater variability in personality and believable capabilities.
As a side note, I generally find that, with any character, the more variance we see in design tests the better. Alunya for example has had the classic outfit as seen in your pic, the re-envisioned design that made her look more like a classical revolutionary, and now a number of designs like this latest piece that synthesizes those two themes to greater effect. This is really among the first times (at least that I've seen) where Rodina has had an appearance that at all varies from the original, so regardless of the subjectivity in declaring it a "hit or miss," we'll at least have considerations for later design.

The more important question is why do you care what system other people run.

I don't know how much "design testing" we should do with a character from another chan.

Why I want more users to use Linux in particular? Because more users means more pressure on hardware manufacturers to release more and better drivers for their hardware, it means more pressure on software developers to develop their applications for Linux natively. More linux users means a larger community so more bugs get discovered and fixed, better documentation gets written and more chances that the applications you and I use will be compatible.

There's no Committee of Character Integrity or Ministry of Artistic Uniformity, it's all just people coming in, doing their thing, and people either liking it and reposting it, or it falls into obscurity. Plenty of Alunya pics that never get posted for that reason.

If someone wants to strike out and do something different, so be it. Their "canon" is just as good as what the drawfag down the street came up with as "canon" a short while earlier. Nobody really cares that excessively about these sort of things: we just want to see good OC made that is consistent within an individual work/project. Everything else is just loose suggestive framework for which the artist/writer in question can mold to fit their needs.

ok so, admittedly, most of my decisions relating to all them being catgirls/Alunya being a spitfire etc were because I wanted to think about posting these comics elsewhere, possibly to be seen and enjoyed by norms. Which means they need to be funny and simple in a way most people can understand. Think of what 4chan's Holla Forums does with their comics.

Personally I believe the lore compromises are worth it for the benefit of the radical left actually having any voice at all in the US, but I realize that might be asking too much from the community so I'm willing to just make Alunya and Rodina into different characters bc people may be madz.

We could use plot elements such as wise teacher characters and exchange students (Rojava, China, Venezuela, Cuba) to discuss socialist struggles that are happening in this day with a positive socialist perspective, and explaining how things happening today vary from actual socialism, and so on.

I guess basically my aim would be to educate neolibs, or people who just read the news in passing or watch CNN and don't really know anything about how fucked up US imperialism is, or acquired all their world history and politics knowledge from high school.

ofc, I'm far from an expert from any of this which is why I'd need some help from people more knowledgeable than I am…

Your "scribbles" is still beyond what most of us are otherwise capable of, so I'd still say it's quite the treat to be honest. Besides, as someone with no artistic experience, I really don't have much of a frame of reference to offer critique even if I wanted to. Only think I couldreally say is that it kinda looks like Rodina sorta pops into frame for the last two panels without signs of entry motion, but that's just nitpicking.

I WILL say that I am quite impressed with the writing though. Smooth, natural, and thorough in getting across the point without getting Buckley-tier in length. Top form I'd say.

USSR was state capitalism that never went to socialism.

I think it's two-fold honestly.

For one: memes alone do not adhere to strict standards of logic. For example, we use Stirner all the time despite the fact that egoism isn't inherently socialist either. You also have to consider that a lot of the USSR's symbolism existed both before the Russian Revolution and persisted outside of Soviet influence after; the use of such symbolism can thus be seen as more of a reclamation process than paying homage to the former Soviet state.

Secondly, there is the matter that many (including myself) can at least admire the fact that most people involved in the formation of the Soviet Union did actually care about creating socialism, even if they failed horrendously at making good on that intent due both to internal conflicts in the party and perhaps a few misguided theories being put to equally faulty application.

Oh, me wishing I was dead is something completely unrelated. Just felt like reminding myself.

A boy falls in love with a girl.
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl’s preferred imageboard. Never minding the strange website, he immediately shares a quickly-made mini-VN, and is overjoyed to find out that she picked the route where she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day’s VN to the girl on the board, she only replies to him with disgust. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl who responded in the VN is not the same girl he fell in love with on the board. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this imageboard at all. She is the girl’s off-board counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC’s own off-board self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to regale each other about their darkest, most private VN routes in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
