Trump may soon sign executive order re-vamping H-1B visa program

web.archive.org/web/*/https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2017/02/trump-may-soon-sign-executive-order-re-vamping-h-1b-visa-program/

Two different bills from both parties, and an EO on the way.

TUM VAAPAS JAANA HAI, PAJEET

goodbye, pajeet

:^)

your an idiot, trump hires many chinese workers, you think he's going to fuck up his business just for you?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

GOODBYE PAJEET

$60k is nothing, it's about the starting salary of a fresh grad from a second tier university with zero real world experience in a medium sized city.

The starting salary at Apple/Google/Microsoft/Facebook for a fresh grad is well over the proposed $100k

The H1B program is intended to sponsor visas for top tier talent that cannot be found in the country, not for fresh grads.

A decent developer with 10+ years of experience is in the $200k - $300k range in Silicon Valley.

...

It's about time! Fuck every coward in the white house who didn't do this before.

Which fantasy world do you live in?

How about if you taught your natives to handle money properly, have better work ethic and do their job properly? All you're doing is letting other countries have the useful labour, letting them advance while you stay stagnant.

$60k is even below the average pajeet salary.

Serious companies already pay way over $100k for your average fresh out of the boat currynigger.

goodbye pajeet

Offshoring education is not the solution. The question is why don't we educate our own specialists. It is silly to believe that China and India will supply us with engineers forever and until eternity. Also, once you have them in, you cannot get rid of them.

That only lasts temporarily though, because the Pajeets will create competition in the jobs marketplace.

Why?
We do, there's just not enough people willing to bother doing STEM
Well humanity won't last forever and until eternity either
Why would you get rid of hard working people doing jobs natives are incapable of?

or...

Bye Pajeet

Well, thanks for my raise, along with tens of thousands of others.

Wonder what I'll spend my extra 70k on.

Fascinating, so they'd rather hire pajeets than fresh graduates for 50~60k

Because they do a better job 98% of the time.

I'm sure ;)

want to grab some naan after work?

Then literally why would they be going to the trouble of hiring abroad?

>Hires only pajeets
Simple really

Racist pajeet is now jobless pajeet

...

Oh you funny Pajeet

There's literally nothing wrong here, Rajesh is now creating business and as a result fueling the economy. Pajeet clearly networks well in this case.

Marketing can only mask the scent of a turd so much

Yeah, note how not a single company listed here is worth saving

That's good news. American companies should prioritize hiring Americans. If there aren't enough potential candidates then it's fine if they look elsewhere, but it's ridiculous to be importing cheap workers when there are plenty of unemployed Americans who would take that job. Raising the minimum required wage for imported hires gives an incentive to hire locally for at least entry-level work, which is a huge improvement.

How come H1Bs get paid so much when I see so many people complaining on Holla Forums and other places about how hard it is to find work?

Are the people complaining just shitters with shit degrees from shit colleges

The H1B's stated purpose is to allow top talent from around the world to work in America. You're not supposed to bring in a H1B worker if there are possibility of a domestic worker who can do the job.

You may want to look at how much an M.D, a Banker or an Attorney make.

Even real engineers like those in mining or drilling make several times the salary of a typical software developer.

The current level of compensation is not attracting the best and brightest to the software industry. Smart people go to professions that actually pay well, or stay in academia splitting atoms.

So he's getting rid of the lottery too? What a fucking asshole.

>>>Holla Forums
>>>Holla Forums
>>>/politics/

MD, Banker, and Attorneys actually require years of study, connections, or both

Real engineers are also relatively few in demand, how many mining engineers do you think a mining company needs vs how many code monkeys your average company needs

It's more the fact that most college graduates bought into the economic deusion of being able to start with 80K+ annually on a starting position, while being rused into eternal internship.
The pathetic/sad/disappointing thing is that I bet that a majority of people here would be willing to work under the average wage margin, as they'd not have to worry about being unable to

I'm aware for a fact that "WILL WORK FOR MINIMUM WAGE" is still alive and well.

guilty as charged

I want a job ;-;

There is plenty of local talent, they just don't want to pay for it. They can also treat H1Bs like indentured servants because their visa is dependent on employment, 60+ hour workweeks or you have to go back.

Yep, this is what they do when they get their green card. I've also seen them start small consultancy businesses using nignog grants, hire exclusively H1Bs for 50-60k, no more. These small consultancies are then subcontracted by the bigger guys. The abuse is even more prevalent with these, they are common in New York, New Jersey, California, and Georgia. Check cities near those at h1bdata.info and you'll see what I mean.

Yes yes of course American computer scientists should work for two cents and an earthworm per day just like Pajeet does hm yes it all makes sense now.

smh

poo in loo pajeet, and not the street!

Thanks for your concern, but due to our numbers and high productivity, the management decided to install squatting loos in all the levels.

What does this have to do with Holla Forums??

kys

The salaries for programmers are good enough for the work being achieved (both mental and physical). Bankers get paid good money because they're responsible for bring in much more money to the bank. Attorneys get big money because they have highly specialized work that demand such high fees.

This thread is not directly about technology. Instead, it is a thread about the politics that affect all companies regardless of whether they are a "tech company" or not. The nature of this thread is problematic because Holla Forums already has 100 different political boards that are dedicated to the discussion of politics.

kys

We can only hope.

Eh, I don't think it can be argued that H1B is overwhelmingly about tech companies and pajeets - 85% of H1B are pajeets working in tech companies afterall

so unlike any of you retards, I actually read what the bill is about

Doesnt target US based companies
Doesnt target clmpanies with less than 15% foreign workers

tl;dr it affect very few who arent working for an indian company in the US

...

Because you say so?

Software has been the only sector of the economy with positive growth for the past 30 years and has steadily increased its share in the GDP at the expense of every other sector. The world's most profitable companies are software companies, including #1 (Apple). Software developers generate far more wealth than bankers do.

Software development is far, FAR, more specialized than law.

Fact is, the smartest men don't become software developers because the effort/reward ratio is poor. Being a doctor, a lawyer or a banker is both far more profitable and a far easier job.

Companies have conspired to keep salaries low and to import cheaper foreign developers. Until that is fixed the best and brightest will keep avoiding the field.

Not to mention developers become unhirable once they have gray hair. You better save as much as you can while young, because as a software developer your career is shorter than a boxer's.

I don't want this. I'm a unix administrator who works infrastructure management and monitoring for a pretty small company, and we manage a lot of very big companies. We have a small team in India who manages all of our night alarming and little management tasks, and they do a fucking good job. We tried the "no outsourcing, only USA" shit, and it turns out that the people who do night jobs fucking suck. You get a bunch of fresh-out-of-college kids (who are the only ones willing to work from 6 PM until 8 AM, even in two separate shifts) and stick them on a middle-of-the-night schedule, and they fuck everything up. They are absolute shit.

That's why we use India, because it's the other fucking side of the world, and our middle-of-the-night work is their middle-of-the-day, so they get shit done.

We don't get Indians because they're cheaper, or even because they're better, but because they're more alert during our night hours. We can't get that here. Hawaii is the closest, and Hawaiians are fucking worse than Indians.

Do you know what visa those Indians working in India need?

None, what you mention is 100% irrelevant to the H1B issue.

Offshoring does not hurt American interests.

I don't do the hiring. I don't really know shit about visas or anything else. The way people are making it sound is that offshoring would be hit by this. My boss was shitting himself over it.

There's a third option: your company could hire in-country competent people who are willing to work overnight.

Sure, that will cost a lot more money in wages. But guess what?

THAT'S CALLED FUCKING CAPITALISM.

Supply and demand, motherfucker! Get used to it.

Yep, government forcing you to choose between cheap incompetent workers and expensive competent ones even though there is a perfectly good option of cheap AND competent workers. That's a fucking capitalism, according to retard you. What else is included in your definition of fucking capitalism? Progressive taxes? Basic income? Planned economy, gulags and bread lines?

What is this option of cheap and competent workers?

Exactly, and H1Bs supplied that demand

Prioritizing the rights and privileges of citizens over those of non-citizens is THE fundamental function of a legitimate government. I have no problem with a government interfering in the market to achieve that.

If that means some crony-capitalists can't slash HR costs to the bone, then so be it.

No such thing, you retard. Government is fundamentally opposed to capitalism. Only keynesian cucks believe that you can improve economy by forcibly taking money from people who earned it and spending it on dumb shit.
You retard, crony capitalists are "capitalists" who abuse government to achieve their own goals.

Capitalism knows no borders. Shipping factories to China, importing developers from India and bribing politicians, academics and the media to cheer for it is capitalism at its best.

A system where the interest of the nation's citizens are put first but that allows a market based economy as long as it doesn't go against the interest of the nation is called fascism.

A RETURN TO INDIA WILL BE MADE BY PAJEET
IF YOU REPLY "STOP SHITTING THE STREET!"

There will always be governments in one form or another. If you take the average democratic western nation and remove the body that calls itself a "government" and the laws that go with it, you're not going to see some glorious free-market utopia. You're going to see private companies rush in to fill the power vacuum, setting and enforcing their own private laws. They'd be governments in all but name.

And don't say that it wouldn't happen, because people would be free to choose who they make free-market deals with. It HAS happened many times. Read up on the robber barons and their company towns in the western US in the 19th century, where laws were set in boardrooms, civil rights were laughed at by company officials, the only currency allowed was scrip printed by the company, and you could only buy at the company store. You are deeply ignorant of history.

Pure capitalism without mass suffering is as much of a fantasy as pure communism without mass suffering. Both are fundamentally incompatible with human nature. You're not facing reality. We're neither fundamentally selfless like the commies believe, nor are we rational actors like the capitalists believe. We're tribal, emotional apes with language and toolmaking skills.

This. H1B salaries are high on paper because the law says they have to be. Anons here acting like they've never heard of companies cooking their books or creative accounting. Pajeets are really easy to jew because you need to maintain status for 10 years or so before you can get a green card. Until that point, being fired is disastrous, even if they immediately find a new job, it usually resets the green card application. On top of it all it's often legal to discriminate against h1bs so they're on pretty fucking thin ice.

Not saying this to garner sympathy for pajeets, just to illustrate the fact that their situation is extremely precarious which means they will accept extremely shitty work conditions without quitting or blowing the whistle, unlike americans. I think this is why they are so commonly hired. I bet those companies don't actually pay the full salary they list too, and find some underhanded way of deducting shit from the pajeet's pay but still report the "base salary".

For instance one kind of arrangement I've heard of is the H1b gets hired for 40 hour a week at $30/hour which comes out to 60k. That's about what a developer makes anyway, so why did they bother? Well the lucky pajeet starts working, and then the boss tells him he needs to work 14 hour days (of course getting paid for only 8) or he's fired. Any normal person would just quit, but the pajeet wants to keep his green card petition active, so he just takes it. Now the company is paying only $16/hour which IS much less than a domestic employee. I think this is also why they prefer pajeets, because they are unfamiliar with western civilization and don't realize that there are laws protecting their rights, so they are less likely to try to sue them or otherwise fight the exploitation. Otherwise why not also hire Europeans on h1b?

Another common scam, and I heard this from one of them, is as a condition to sponsoring your visa they put you (or your family) in debt so a good percentage of the salary paid in America goes back to India to pay the company sponsoring the visa.

So Rajesh IT Services USA pays Pajeet $10k a month but every month Pajeet wires his mom back home $5k who pays Rajesh IT Services India.

Boy, it's not like there's dozens of industries across the U.S. that need to maintain 24/7 on-site coverage by highly-skilled, well-educated people that you could look to for staffing strategies.

Your company is too stupid and/or jewish to solve this problem. I hope you go out of business before you inevitably screw over one of your customers.

The fuck you on about? Computer autists as a group have sleep so fucked up they probably have more incidence of shift worker syndrome than actual shift workers.

People like you are the ones who started this outsourcing bullshit in the first place. Too lazy to do your own job, so let's exploit subversive liberal government policy to get turd worlders to do it for us.

This bill is gonna brutalize some anuses, and a lot of people are happy about it. You seem to think that you're just a good guy caught in the crossfire, but people like you are the reason Trump won.

This

It's going to affect very few people outside of Tata

But that is capitalism. Business owners must pay their employees a salary high enough that they can afford to have children and those children can grow up to replace the current workforce. Wage labor is a part of capitalism. If it is not replenished, then businesses that rely on it will fail. Capitalism is not required to have free markets or be globalist in nature. There are many ways it can be implemented.

Come on now buddy, let's not pretend this is anything other than the corporatocracy artificially driving down labor costs by flooding tech jobs with low-pay foreign workers

STOP SHITTING THE STREET

If the job you're doing is so easy that it's trivial to import any old worker to do it, your job is artificially driven high by protectionist policies. If your work is truly that much better than theirs, it will be apparent in the following years as reputations develop for the higher paid American workers and for the "lower paid" H1B workers. Reputations will develop with stories like "two American programmers are worth 5 of the import workers". Those kind of stories should exist today because this H1B for tech worker policies have been around for a while. Do you have any personal stories like this or can you point to one.

Or it's totally possible that the ratio salary/performance will always be better for the pajeet, because they accept to live like cockroach and send their money back to their shithole.
Anyway, we're discussing the wrong thing, capitalism is retarded because it's an economic system seperate from any social/political system, meaning that its sole objective is productivity. Protip: productivity is not an end but a mean.
