The pictures are cool but some discussion would be nice. Is there any armour that can protect against major blunt force? Something that could take a mace blow without caving in. It can be modern or historical.

I also want to know if chain mail is more protective against knife thrusts than a modern stab vest.

I can offer some insight on the chain mail question.
German police have access to chain mail in some districts.
Specifically for knife welding situations.

I wish I had saved the pic.
It was a sleeved chain mail top (shirt).
It was in service for knife protection.
I would think it had some research behind it's effectiveness
due to the fact it was in use in an active situation.
