OP
If you still need help with pr, my post here still bears good advice: do not treat us as customers, treat us as friends. Do not advertise to us, pitch your ideas as if we are important creative consultants. Trust me when I say that I have experience with chan projects that have crashed and burned simply because the team couldn't spark an actual relationship with their chan benefactors. Nine times out of ten, it was because they chose to condescend and stand over everyone rather than humble themselves and respect the audience they've chosen to represent. Holla Forums is a noble beast–and when everyone in a thread is telling you something is a bad idea, you should probably listen.
It is very clear you are passionate about making this comic work, but if you're going to do this then you need to learn the virtue in patience. You are so eager to see things through that it seems you're unwilling to take any criticism or accept that things about your work need to be changed. A developer who refuses to modify any part of their work out of pride or pretentiousness is an inexperienced and immature developer. Accept that you are not going to create a perfect product on your first try. There are going to be rewrites and revisions, and ultimately there will probably be one thing you really like that just doesn't work, forcing you to scrap it.
If you do not heed what I'm telling you, you're just going to learn this the hard way later on.
Also, don't refer to 4chan for criticism unless you like creative stagnation. Receiving nothing but praise is actually bad for human creativity: it sends positive reinforcement for trying rather than finishing. Not to mention everyone on that website that might have been of substance moved to Holla Forums years ago.
OP'S ARTIST
Unfortunately "bringing back the traditionally western style" is exactly what the CalArtsfaggots think they're doing too. A bit of self-awareness about this doesn't actually go a long way. At the end of the day, despite your intentions, you're doing exactly what every other tumblr faggot thinks they're doing: "saving western animation." In the end, it all looks like exactly the same in-bred garbage everyone else is doing.
Now if you're using this tired artstyle as a way to subvert all the shitty CalArts faggotry that exists in modern cartoons, I would actually applaud you for the clever commentary (especially if it was only the children who looked like grinning potatofaces–the adults look like normal people.) From everything that I've been told, however, this doesn't seem to be the case. OP has described you as a literal genius. If this is the case, I can only be forced to assume you are invoking deliberate negligence in order to sink this comic. If not, then you need to shape up NOW before you irreparably ruin the project poor OP has invested so much autism into.
I've made some infographics to explain the gripes I have with your art, as well as an attempt to explain the importance of exaggeration when it comes to drawing cartoons.
When drawing faces, I encourage you to go look in the mirror and study how your features interact while making expressions. Note, for example, how the whole face seems to scrunch up when you're showing disgust or anger, and widen when showing happiness or surprise.
I also recommend you buy a few anatomy books and study how the body interacts with itself. It's essential in my opinion to have a basic understanding of human figure drawing before you can truly move on to drawing cartoons.
Good luck. If I have more to say, I'll say it.
