Of course, inheritance destroys equal opportunity. But at the same time, shouldn't I have the right to choose what happens to my money, even after I die? What will happen to small family businesses under socialism?

Inheritance implies private property. Depends on the system but your kids will get your personal property (house, possessions, etc) but you will have much to own that is not shared property of many other people.
I could see a person's right to participate in a worker enterprise being reserved and passed down but I don't really see why people would want that instead of trying to find their own career.
We're against capitalist inheritance that would essentially allow the bourgeoisie to become a hereditary gentry. In a socialist system, what you owned would be purely personal property, and it doesn't really matter if you passed that on to your next of kin.
They will be collectivized. If only your family worked in your family business, that will, in effect, mean that your whole family owns it instead of just your father or whomever.

How did the children get their own houses? Do they have their own families? Is this a society where kids move out? Did they buy these? Is there some kind of market here?
If yes: they can sell it if they can't afford it (renting is disallowed in market socialism)
If no: the government could probably take it, depending on what laws it has
If your kids have houses already, WHY NOT GIVE IT TO OTHER KIDS?

Even if 'muh spooks' is valid, that doesn't mean that straight up disregarding the dead would fly with the majority of the population. Leaving something behind for future generations is what encourages many people to work hard in the first place; I personally dont care, but it comforts a lot of people.
And a lot of the appeal of Socialism to me is that workers are seen as more than a 'use to society', which is why people aren't forced to work like robots 20 hours a day
