But I knew kids when I was younger who would have been in juvenile detention by 7th grade if they hadn't been on Ritalin. Many of our problems right now are due to alcohol or heroin addiction. I work 3rd shift so we get a lot of drunks and junkies. Ive had to arrest people I used to be friends with for possession, which was strange.

Im newer I just started my third year. I currently make $60k per year and have full medical, dental, vision insurance. Our department really tries to take care of us so they pay is better than other places. I know of departments that only pay $10 starting and $8.25 during FTO. We also get an equipment allowance of a few hundred dollars every year to help replace equipment the department doesn't issue. Plus we get free food at the station a few times a month from local restaurants.

It depends, most of the older generation are always very nice and respectful. It's hit and miss with people under/around 30. Some will be nice, others will yell Fuck The Police or some other retarded edge lord level garbage at you while pumping gas. Kids always have questions and I'll happily talk to them even if their parents clearly don't like us. I always make sure to have a few extra badge stickers on me to give any kid who talks to me. I feel Im fairly well liked by people in my city. There's a few repeat customers who will only talk to me if they have contact with other officers.
