I started out almost redpilled, thanks to my family. My mom grew up an America first person, and my father, a Reagan Republican, drifted hard right over the years from dealing with bullshit in the corporate world. It wasn't unusual in our house for someone to say, for example, "Alex Jones is a nutjob, but 90% of what he says is true".
W's 2nd term is when I started to go "full redpill", and started to go further right than anyone in my family. The nationalistic mood at the time had me hoping we were headed towards an America First paradigm, but around 2006 everything started to fall apart. I couldn't bring myself to be a "libertarian" or 3rd party kinda guy, because I realized that isn't how power works. It was painfully obvious to me that not only was the system rigged, the people rigging it had gone insane.
That's when I started thinking long and hard about how things might change, what was required for a paradigm shift. The conclusion I soon reached was that it would have to either come from the inside (disgruntled elites making moves) or from an independently wealthy semi-insider mounting a challenge to the ruling elite (with help from disgruntled elites).
