Make /rel/ great again

How do we make /rel/ good again?

what religion do you practice OP?

by admitting that you believe in fairytales

Syncretic Theism

syncretism is a mistake.
sorry to hear that, but you need to purify your spirit.

in what way is it a mistake?

If there are spiritual truths, wisdom, or anything good or of value in the world religions, then its sensible to take the highest and best from them all and reject the lower expressions.

it's too subjective, individualistic, ultimately self-centered not God-centered; man carving religion and truth in his own image, to suit his desires and assumptions, based on his weaknesses, uncertainties, desires and temptations.

religions are vehicles in themselves, you either follow one or you don't. Mixing and matching is hypocrisy, a sign that the person is not genuine and not committed to any path.

If you want to bake a cheese cake you follow a specific cheese-cake recipe, you don't mix and match recipes, adding in ingredients meant for fish tacos or ice cream sandwiches…the final result will be an abomination.

But thats racist user.

If not syncretism, then what?

thelema

Truth, wisdom, or spiritual value can be expressed through most religions in varying degrees; it is good to absorb the best of all.

lol

why?

Maybe the Big Bang was produced by "God."

I've said it before; I'll say it again. Maybe the whole damn thing is some sort of meta lab experiment.

orthodoxy.
traditionalism.

syncretism is a symptom of new age degeneracy.

traditionalism killed Jesus :(

traditionalism/dogmatism/institionalized ecclesiasticism is the death of God, it kills true spirituality

no, traditionalism discovered Jesus. Basically the pharisees had been interpreting their scriptures incorrectly and following syncretic oral tradition for a long time and didn't know what to look for in a real messiah. Asking for his death is just an expression of their evil/insecure hearts.

When Jesus resurrected he came back and the apostles didn't even recognize him, so he had to "open the books" and basically teach them how to read scripture properly, as it was meant to be, and so it became obvious that he was the messiah and much more.

Without a solid traditional approach people are subject to idiosyncratic subjectivism, basically picking and choosing what makes them feel good, and when they have wicked hearts the results can be deadly, as was the case for the pharisees.

only if the dogma is false, as long as it's true the dogma is necessary and foundational.

necessary, but also subject to corruption, so you have to have a refined approach and be able to detect true from false while also avoiding syncretism and just "make your own religion" syndrome.

true spirituality is submerging yourself in orthodoxy, whether its orthodox buddhism, christianity or islam, you have to be orthodox you have to have dogmas and you have to distinguish absolute from relative, true from false, good from evil, if you can't do these basic things then you're just fooling yourself and you're probably being driven by your desires/emotions not an impulse towards truth.
