Still waiting for the torrents, but since I watched Under The Skin, I feel slightly more optimistic about Scarlett's performance. She can only do a robotic performance, which suits the Major.
I suspect the trailer is the way it is to get asses in seats and that the movie will be a passable rehash of material from the anime franchise. Still won't be a masterpiece though due to the diversity quotas and unoriginality. It'll look cool but that's only because they'll copy everything. Trailers are always shit.
But the Major is not a robot. She can do humor and she can show genuine emotions. Johansson has only two expressions, smug smirk and blank face.

It's pretty good Holywood adaptation of source material, which means it's really-really bad adaptation. If you're not familiar with anything related to GitS franchise, it's watchable, but otherwise Bato and some of the visuals are the only good things about this movie.
There was too many giant holograms of people, one or two would have been cool but shoving them in all the time was too much and ultimately distracted overall.
