One of my more paranoid fears is, that these Germanic EU politicians who hate German identity are actually trying to get people to hate the nation of Germany, even though it's mainly the German government and a small group of loud and radical "progressives" ruining it for everyone.
On most news sites I visit the commentors polemizing against "the right" seem to love Multikulti for no good reason, hate their German identity and want to be "EU citizens" without an own culture. Most come from western Germany it seems.

UK was pro-Turkey in EU, at least a few years ago. And that's exactly the reason: leverage against Germany. Power in the EU is determined by population size, which Germany has the largest right now and is increasing it with muh refugees. Turkey would be the closest country to challenge Germany's numbers, next to maybe France. Turkey still couldn't dominate, but then neither could Germany.

We've got a catholic radio station over here that's literally bigger than any of the commercial stations.
