If you live in Northern PA then you should visit the Windmill Farm and Craft Market in Penn Yan, NY. It's open Saturday's and is super comfy – you can bring your pet(s) on a leash but clean up after it. You can spend an entire day there. It's located between Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake of the Finger Lakes so there are many other things to enjoy in that area.

I think so; I looked into it a few years ago with a group who lived in Ohio. The gist was that few outsiders join them and those that try are often not prepared to stay, but they're open to the idea. They would meet you to assess your commitment and capability. Then if you accepted the faith, you'd work for an established farmer or craftsman for a few years, if you didn't have the funds for your own farmland or another venture, that is.
