What are some films that accurately capture the feeling of a dream?
No Bunuel, Lynch, or Jodorowsky allowed ITT.
What are some films that accurately capture the feeling of a dream?
discuss anime or gtfo
Inception
American Psycho
There you go OP, now get out.
Pearls before swine
Was this the least dreamlike movie about dreams ever made?
They must have worked really hard to make it so fucking boring. Its just a run of the mill action film.
YOU SAY ANOTHER BAD THING ABOUT A CHRISTOPHER NOLAN MOVIE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS
ANYTHING MADE BY NOLAN IS KINO
Everything he's done is shit. That includes Insomnia and Memento.
Now somebody get this hothead out of here.
The Prestige was good though.
Actually now that I think of it the only good things Nolan was involved with his brother was also involved in.
Bravo Johnathan Nolan
This. Russian Ark is crazy, it makes you feel like you're somewhat there.
Also, Tarkovsky's Zerkalo is the most dreamlike film ever made. Disjointed according to logic, but warm, very lifelike, and full of ambient. Unlike Hollywood crap, Zerkalo is extremely accurate in depicting the experience of dreaming to the point it's disturbing.
Doctor Strange did that shit better, you newfag.
trash
You mean surrealism OP? Cause I've never had a single dream that was surreal.
OP said no Tarkovsky.
Tarkovsky's fine.
I guess I'm looking for more traditional films with surrealist elements, as all "Surrealist" films go too far and shatter the dreamlike atmosphere.
That's jodorowsky you dip.
I've never had a single dream that was surreal
What's your dream like? My dream isn't surreal either, but it's disjointed.
Third person view adventuring but it all makes sense as outrageous at they can be, but never surreal. Or first person slide show like visions of other worlds but once again, not surreal.
Sorry read that as "Jewtarkovsky."
...
Yes, those are the disjoints that everyone experiences in their dreams, not the kind of glorified surrealism hollywood seems to push.
The closest I've seen to depicting what a nightmare looks like is the Begotten. IMO
shouldn't count since it's so literal
Kurosawa's Dreams is a pretty good example.
...
Too over the top tbh. Doesn't feel like a dream.
Really? I guess for me certain parts felt like a dream where it can drag out like in the snowy mountain part.
It's just your dreams that are crappy.

Any movies where you're going about your every day life, and suddenly friends or family violently turn on you? Or any movies where you're going about your every day life, and suddenly there are corpses everywhere? Those are the two I have frequently.
Most zombie flicks.
especially the scenes where he's wandering around at night
this, an absolutely fantastic autobiography too
Here's what you want
Dune
Arrakis

Kurutta ippeji
Melagne
...
Dogtooth is fucking frightening
Should have gone with OGF
Short synopsis?
Tried yo watch it two times while drunk and slept each times. Kirsten Dunst is ☀
Maybe that is why it was so dream like, I may have slept and didn't notice.
The Last Wave
I think you're confusing being tired for dreaming.
...
All I've had for years are nightmares, with the rare dream where everything is perfect, but those are way worse when you wake up. Nightmares are great because when you awake you get a great sense of relief, instead of plain old painful yearning.
