AUSTRIA’S government has moved to seize the house where Adolf Hitler was born to prevent it becoming a site of pilgrimage for neo-Nazis. Austria’s Interior Ministry says the government has drawn up a draft law that would allow it to take ownership of the house where Adolf Hitler was born.
“The decision is necessary because the Republic would like to prevent this house from becoming a ‘cult site’ for neo-Nazis in any way, which it has been repeatedly in the past, when people gathered there to shout slogans,” Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka told reporters before the cabinet meeting. “It is my vision to tear down the house,” he added.
The move follows steadfast refusal by owner Gerlinde Pommer to sell the empty building in the town of Braunau am Inn on the German border. The draft still must be approved by parliament, where the government is in the majority and can rely on the support of most opposition parties.
Ministry spokesman Karl-Heinz Grundboeck says he expects a parliamentary vote sometime this year. Government considerations range from tearing down the house to making it into a museum documenting Nazi horrors.
A commission consisting of 12 members from the fields of politics, administration, academia and civic society will ultimately decide the fate of the building.

I don't like where this world is going, Holla Forums. This is outright theft, "we don't like you therefore we take your house".

I don't care, his spirit lives on.

When are they coming for Mussolini's grave?

isn't this old news?
have serious deja vu from like 2 years ago.

I remember this exact same thread being made also. I'm either having serious deja vu, I'm going crazy, or I've shifted over to the Berenstain universe.

Aaaand it's a Czech Jew. What a surprise.
William Cruz
yeah, this shit is getting spooky.
Too much of these deja vu events, it's not just one or two. it's so many I lost count.

When a government steals land they usually give the victim some money, but even then it's still stealing. If I stole your car but left a few thousand dollars in your garage for you that's still stealing.

Höfer better save it

Who gives a fuck? National Socialism is a political ideology, not a religion. The idea of having a "pilgrimage" to a place Hitler once lived is laughable, Hitlers legacy is an intellectual one. They can tear down all the buildings they want.
Hudson Sanders
Last time we had a thread about it they were still unsuccessful in doing so.

I hope Norber wins the Election

I live in the American south where politicians pretend we have KKK demonstrations at confederate monuments to justify tearing them down.
You seriously believe the "neo-Nazi pilgrimage" schlick? It's blatantly a ploy to justify confiscating someone else' property with no compensation.

Considering that Predappio is a huge tourist spot, full of memorabilia shops and a regular attraction for both "black pilgrims" and "mainstream" people, I don't think is at risk in the foreseeable future.
As we say here, the area is full of hypocrites, people with "the heart on the left, but the wallet on the right".

Don't these old houses have some sort of protection, especially such important sites as Hitler's birth home, simply for their historical value?
Jace Rogers
Precisely. We talked about how it needs to be ratified as a law. And this is the conclusion we arrived last time too.
I did visit Branau recently, so they aren't that far off with the "neo-nazi pilgrimage".
But it's funny, Hitler lived just three years in the house as a child. And they still wanna tear it down like it omits brainwashing NSDAP-rays or something.
Carter Evans
It's historical value is the reason they have to tear it down.
Levi Diaz
Why now? What are they afraid of?

Just like the Bergof and its teahouse were demolished by the communists in the 50's.
These people hate history.

We have no need of material possessions. All that we are is within us.
Brandon Hill
let them tear it down. it's better than have it turned into some shekelgrabbing holohoax memorial. after all it#s the man and his spirit that matter not a pile of bricks

There is no difference between that government and ISIS when it comes to destruction of History.

leftist/socialist governments have always been dependent on having a cultural revolution in order to implement their ideology.
