What's the definitive roman kino?

what's the definitive roman kino?
i want to relive the glory of the empire

The Fall of the Roman Empire

The 50's and the 60's to be honest, it was the Era of Epic's and Julius Caesar Salad.

Ben-Hur
Gladiator
Caligula

spartacus (1960)

...

It's the same empire, user.

come on, user, be realistic

I don't think you could make a good movie about having your head in the sand for a thousand years.

I Claudius is the gold standard.

The Byzantine empire was literally a Roman wannabe that was much dumber even though it had the same potential.
But in the end both were shit.

Time to hit the books, user.

they didn't do shit
real romans were an entirely different thing
if the byzantines were actual romans they wouldn't have been buttfucked by slavs and mudslimes

The point is that the Byzantine empire was an offshoot, not an imitation, of the Roman empire.

Byzantines calling for western aid did begin the Crusades though.
Why live

But those real Romans got bufffucked centuries earlier by Germans, Slavs, and themselves. And during crusades, their descendants fucked up Constantinople too.

they were still doing better
the byzantines didn't really seem to have any fairly successful military campaigns

Kampf Um Rom (1968, Robert Siodmak) is over three hours of pure Byzantine kino

And the Romans were a bunch of Greek wannabes. The Byzantine Empire was just things coming full circle.

They did, just mostly in mundane ways. For example, the way modern hospitals run is based on the way Byzantine hospitals were ran. They also had a pretty big influence on property rights too, IIRC. Not to mention all of their groundbreaking achievements in architecture and engineering. Granted, they were all based on stuff the Romans did, but they brought them to a level that the Romans couldn't have dreamed of.

There are several movies about Theodora, but none of them are very good.

congratulations. meanwhile other civilizations have more than 1 golden age spanning multiple rulers

What successful military campaigns did west have? Expansion was pretty much done before split happened and west wasn't even able to defend themselves from barbarians and pirates. Meanwhile Byzantine managed to do that for centuries while also having to deal with Muslims on top of that.

...

The wannabe here is you.

So when is Holla Forums going to have a Roman week?

You were Greeks.

...

...

The Greek is immunized against all dangers: one may call him a miscreant, degenerate, nefarious, knavish, it all runs off him like water off a raincoat. But call him a Greek and you will be astonished at how he recoils, how injured he is, how he suddenly shrinks back: "I've been found out."

...

There'd have to be one first, Tyrone.

the shaka zulu miniseries was great
zulu was cool too
otherwise the only other cool african civ that isn't egyptians is the nubians, and i don't know about any movies with them in it

...

keep telling yourself that

Technically Egypt is in Africa, but if you mean it's not African because of the Arabian influence, the same goes for Nubians. Everything the Nubians ever built uses the same Arabian architecture as the Egyptians, it's just inferior like a knockoff product.

...

lol rome's a shit fam

Katanafag detected

Caligula is the only kino flic based on Rome.

...

What did they mean by this?

There were not entirely greek as greeks would like them to be. But they survived as an empire much longer against arab invaders, than the western roman empire.

...

no, fuck japan
but r*me is a fucking piece of shit that deserves no praise

This. British Empire is best empire. Rome wasn't even half as big.

You're kidding, right?

Constantine choose that place specifically because it was so defensible.

The fact Byzantium lasted another 1000 years after the fall of Rome is proof enough of the strength of its defensive position.

...

Literally no one cares about the British empire except the brits and the shitskins they gave modern medicine to.

The eternal anglo strikes again.

kek

Conquering Africa, Australia and Canada is hardly impressive, nor is any of it valuable land. Rome had the majority of Europe to itself.

CUCKS.

As if the british exterminated anything but moronic indians.

Life of Brian

It's not that difficult to build an empire when your tech is millennia ahead of the people you conquer and the legwork of mapping out the sea routes has been done by Spaniards, Portuguese, and Dutch. And don't forget that a lot of the conquering was done by happy merchant tier tactics. Only impressive thing about British empire was that it was able to rule land so widespread and over large populace without falling apart. Administrative issues doomed many other, more impressive empires.

Alexander or Gengis Khan would accomplish far more than Brits if they had access to the same resources.

Roman Empire
>leave behind the blueprint to civilization that has been copied by every great power since

British Empire
>go to ireland, the island of saints and scholars

Size isn't everything. I'm not going to argue Africa and large parts of Asia weren't far better off colonised, but some of the fuck-ups by the Brits were colossal and are killing Europe.

Should say

Don't forget

Ya'll plebs
/thread

Gladiator

watch Rome, the HBO series

that's one extremely homo and pretentious flick
also, the Polidoro version is superior in every sense

AYO HOL UP
smacks lips

And look how that turned out

anywhere the British went, they created and spread civilization to all the lesser people they came in contact with
unfortunately the british didn't finish the job like they should have. If the irish race was worth saving they should have been able to defend themselves. Now where stuck with this corrupted island of whiners with a victim complex who will probably whine until the end of time.
Except india was made of constantly warring states with the muslim mugals controlling over half of it. the british brought modern civilization to them. in the end, they only gave the muslims areas that were muslim.
because continuing to flood every corner of the earth with niggers was such a great thing

Yeah it's worked out great hasn't it?

Don't worry, you'll only be stuck with them for a few more generations. Unfortunately they are going to end up with an island of Muslim savages next door to them.

Great work. Now they have a population in the billions the majority of whom are subhuman streetshitters you really helped to "bring modern civilization to them" there.

Go and take a walk through one of your "wonderful" cities, you'll see that the flood is larger than it's ever been. All that Britain did was to help humanize non whites.

Serious question here, how can you feel any patriotism towards Britain? You literally have Muslim rape gangs roaming your streets almost completely unhindered, you haven't got anything to feel patriotic about. The kind of people allowing those rapacious subhumans to go unpunished are the same type as the ones who's actions you defend (a good example would be the britkikes who portrayed the Irish as being "Negro like" so that they could sell them off to kike slavers). Honestly I get more convinced that Britcuckistan is beyond saving everytime I see this kind of post, all the men of valour left for the new world long ago. You really don't have any right to link your current nation with it's past "honour" at this point, your ancestors would be disgusted by the comparison.

LOL Romaboos.

...

This user gets it. Such an over the top movie, but that makes it entertaining af.

Caligula is Roman kino.

top kek
You mean like the EIC destroying the Indian weavers with tarrifs at the behest of textile mill (((owners))) because they couldn't compete with the Pajeets despite machinery and working the urban poor to death in 14 hour shifts?
Or maybe India suffering from semi-regular famines under the British because the peasantry was forced to plant cash crops like tea or opium poppy instead of food?

The abolitionists were the SJWs of their time: Crying about muh oppressed brown people overseas while thousands of children were boiled alive as chimney sweepers and the poor were thrown in chains and transported to remote colonies for minor infractions.

what would 18th and 19th century Byzantine uniforms have looked like if they survived, Holla Forums?

...

No one gave a shit about British abolitionists.
