I think we've already peaked with smartphones and devices like the Amazon Echo and integration with appliances/light switches.

There won't be a Rosie from the Jetsons style maid robot in every home because it's not practical in terms of the price for the consumer and the cost of maintenance. The batteries alone for such robots would have to be enormous and that's a factor in the price that can only be reduced so much due to the rarity of earth metals.

If you want to know the airspeed of velocity of an unladen swallow, you can always ask your phone, but if you want someone to fetch you a cider from the fridge, make kids.

AI hasn't peaked, but I think we've hit a wall in terms of the amount of physical service we can get from consumer robotics in the home.

If there are effective robot butlers produced, they will be made on a limited scale for the wealthy. It's not something that will be affordable for everybody like the smartphone.

We've had the ability to have voice activated switches for decades. It's just the rest of the related tech, such as speech recognition, wasn't there. But speech recognition is still advancing rapidly.

As for batteries, I don't see how it would be a bigger problem than in a vehicle. And since these are devices that would still be wanted even if they only stayed in the home, they could be charged fairly often without issue.

Vehicles are a lot more necessary than robot butlers. It's just not practical to maintain a robot for the home that can do chores that a human can do better.

My point about batteries is that while the cost to mass produce the robots can be streamlined, the type of batteries such robots would require are cost-prohibitive.
