So we see that one of the things God hates the most is sodomy. What is sodomy indicative of? Romans 1 says that sodomy is a consequence of straying so far away from God, in doing those things that are not convenient (unnatural), that God "gives them up."
There are sins which are common to man, and there are sins which are not convenient to man. We also see that sins are not equal; some sins are worse than others. Fornication and adultery, the latter being far worse than the former (warranting death), are unfortunately sins common to man. However, sodomy is unnatural and not common to man. So basically how do we as Christians deal with this?
For a simple ranking of sins, the unnatural sins are worse than natural sins, and sins unto death are worse than sins not undo death. Sodomy is both a) unnatural and b) a sin unto death, so we see that it is one of the most wicked, vile, and abominable things imaginable; likewise we have a specific example showing us what God thinks about sodomy (Sodom.)
