What, exactly, makes these GotG movies "Reddit" movies? I don't go to Reddit nor do I know their culture (and neither should anyone who comes here) so I can never tell what people complain about.
Is there any explicit presence of this so-called "Reddit humor" one can point to in the first movie and both's trailers or are you just contrarian, parroting, meme-loving fucks?

Hey, that guy again. I'll explain (although GotG isn't really my area of expertise.)

In his original origin Starlord's dad was a reptillian alien and war criminal who took human form and hid on Earth. In this origin, Starlord has a bunch of shit he doesn't in the movie, specifically he's told his body was designed to survive in space, and he has a suit which gives him perfect mobility while flying in the vaccuum of space, hence "star-lord". Also he has an "elemental gun" which is a pretty sweet handcannon that fires shots of all the elements, not sure why they scrapped this from the movie as it's pretty neat, but it is generally part of his origin that he gets these things when he meets his dad, so maybe that'll still be part of his origin.

However, in the film it's been stated that his dad while still a villain is not the random Reptilian warlord, but instead Ego the Living Planet (basically Galactus's polar opposite) who created a humanoid avatar for himself to experience life as a human, and met and boned Starlord's mom. In fact the first teaser trailer shown at a convention (which hasn't been released yet) shows a discussion in which Drax asks Ego whether or not his artificial human form includes a penis, prompting Ego to brag he has a nice one.

Kurt Russel's involvement in this role confirms the first of three major rumors which themselves had also been confirmed in everything but trailers. In addition, Sylvester Stallone has a role and it's highly believed he'll be playing Nova, whether or not he'll be Richard (Dick) Rider remains to be seen, but descriptions from the set say his costume looks a lot like his Judge Dredd uniform which would fit with Nova.

Nathan Fillion is also playing Wonder Man, various photos reveal a series of fake movie posters for his human identity who in Marvel is an actor and for the period he was a member of GotG called himself "Hollywood". It's generally believed the cameo will be limited to the posters, but they did release official artwork of him in a modernized Wonder Man costume, so fingers crossed.

What has not at all yet been revealed is Adam Warlock who was hinted at (his cocoon was in the first one) but for some reason has not again been mentioned since.

There is a line between just being fun and not having any stakes at all and this is way over at the no stakes at all area. Reddit style shitposting can't replace drama. This is why Lucas is a genius, Star Wars never took itself too seriously and was very funny at times but he had the sensibility to not let that take over completely and it still took itself seriously enough that you'd get invested in the story. That can be a hard balancing act but Marvel don't even try, they go straight for Joss Whedon formula samey quippers, even down to the weak beta male protagonist, the stronk womyn slut and the dumb but endearing meathead.

Now that Lucas is retired there's nobody making kinos in this genre anymore. I think Valerian and, if we're lucky, Blade Runner 2 will be decent movies. I wish I could see a glimmer of hope on the horizon, I loved reading these science fiction comics as a teenager, like Incal and such and the films inspired by those comics were also great. Alien. Blade Runner. Star Wars. And now there's nothing.

It's because they think that all the pro-Prequel memes are ironic. They lack the ability to notice the classical composition of the shots in those films. They can't appreciate the soundtracks, the costumes, the unique alien worlds. They don't get it and they never will. They think the Prequel memes are nothing more than people pretending to like bad movies. So they choose movies that suck like Harry Potter and The Hobbit (even though both of those series were praised by critics) and then shout, "kino" like they're Dunkaccino in Heat or something.
