Except to truly understand Islam, you must read the Koran, the Sunnah and an assortment of other writings. It's not like thumbing through the Koran will lend you all the understanding you might want. 1984 is actually a proper novel. Anthem is just a hundred pages of her rambling about how much smarter and superior she is compared to other people, "and maybe you are too, dear reader, :^) ." You can actually feel the residue of narcissism on your fingers as you turn through the pages of that book.

Atlas Shrugged is a brick of a book. If you're unfamiliar with Rand I'd recommend We the Living first. It reads like a journal of Rands final years in Soviet Russia. She wrote it when she was still learning English so the style is very raw, but also very honest. It contains some wonderful prose. If the book appeals to you, give Atlas Shrugged a shot.

Former lolbertarian here just dropping in to say that I enjoyed Atlas Shrugged and would recommend it as transitional material for commies, although Anthem is far superior by virtue of being shorter, better written and the inspiration for Rush's 2112. These both certainly helped in my case, although I have a soft spot for any kind of dystopian fiction.

Naturally, (((Rand))) is wrong in her philosophical approach, and her interpretation of altruism is either intentional (likely), idiotic or a genuine misunderstanding based in part on coming from (((a different culture))) and having witnessed the atrocities done in the name of brother love in the (((USSR))). The reason I think her interpretation of altruism is intentional is because of her early interest in Nietzsche and then her total disillusionment from him, plus her understanding of the English language is incredibly good. It doesn't seem likely to me that she would have such command of the language yet misunderstand the meaning of such a common idea.

As a broader criticism, (((Rand)))'s infatuation with capitalism is not healthy. She sees capitalism as all that is good in the world and openly advocates for the rule of money to supercede the rule of law. Objectifags who disagree will point to the fact that she was a Republican and that she hated anarchists as a way of claiming that she didn't advocate for the rule of money.

Atlas Shrugged was a very good book, but deeply flawed in terms of execution. Dagny's promiscuity, along with Galt being a long-winded cunt, put an unnecessary strain on the narrative. In Rand ' s pursuit to write a book that enhanced and added to The Fountainhead in every possible aspect, she attached a few dozen cars too many to her train–so to speak–and wrote a tome that was, from a literary perspective, ultimately inferior to her original work.

The Fountainhead was complex, elegant, and beautiful. Further, its message could be summed up in a single sentence without selling short the final product: mediocrity and degenerate are symptoms of tyranny and oppression.

Atlas Shrugged, on the other hand, while being no less a wonderful book, can only be described as complex and long-winded. The message(s) espoused by AS are, without a doubt, essential to understanding the importance of letting the human will and spirit roam free by virtue of meritocracy in a capital driven society. The great success of currency was that it was being established as an objective reflection of the human spirit and it's indomitable drive and innovation in a truly free environment. The tragedy is that the people at both the very top and the very bottom sought to enslave that spirit by using the paper medium that reflected their spiritual drive and individual merits in the face of a collective of parasites. The men of liberty would always be a minority among a legion of tyrants.

It's true you know. When I was a teenager I employed magic in order to ensure a successful career, and I've always landed on my feet even though I've made some really bad choices.
