Recusing herself after a private meeting with the husband of the accused is the proper legal thing to do, because it was improper to have the meeting in the first place. The most likely reason behind all of this probably goes something like this:
- if she prosecutes hillary, she is gonna be on the shitlist of obama, the clintons, etc. and be remembered for that
- she probably has higher aspirations, like making supreme court justice one day
- ain't no way Trump would nominate her, but Hillary might if Hillary manages to get a pardon or a miraculous not guilt verdict, or another democrat who miraculously manages to win might
- so the easy way out with least damage to herself is making a minor faux pas (meeting bill), give the liberal media the ok / marching orders to report it, then immediately "doing the right thing" and recusing herself, thereby managing to avoid both the "wouldn't prosecute an obvious criminal" and the "traitor to her own party" label in one slick move.

Then why would Lynch recuse herself? They could have swept this under the rug and claimed she was only on Bill's jet to braid his child-prostitute's hair or something. This was done for some kind of strategic reason, the suspicious nature of the investigation was never an issue until today. Lynch was more than likely threatened by Bill, perhaps she was poised to make the indictment and he wanted the evidence to leave with her recusal. Just a thought. Something really fishy's going on, the Clintons aren't the type to get caught in the act like this unless it was deliberate.

This was an obvious show. If she really wanted to talk to bill or hillary, she could have called them on some black phone, tell a 3rd party to tell the clintons, or ffs sent a crow. Either way, the administration needs to burn for their transgressions.
My only problem with that would be that Bill would have had to have been complicit in that strategy for it to fly. Bill wants Hillary in the white house, so that's a non-starter. The only way that theory holds water is if Lynch leaked this / invited the press without Bill or Hillary's knowing, which would be pretty earth shattering.

This is what I'm thinking too. Remember that she was JUST appointed less than a year ago. It's quite likely she was forced into the position through blackmail and leaking this meeting was a cry for help / excuse to step aside (due to public backlash). I also think part of this may be she KNOWS an indictment is forthcoming but had been ordered to block it; therefor putting her in the center of one of the biggest shit-fests in US history.
So on the bright side at least she can't stonewall anymore, but it's still up to the FBI to actually fucking do something now.

Update: she didn't "recuse" herself, but rather "deferred" the investigation to her department's recommendation. Apparently she wasn't going to go by her department's recommendation because she's the diabetic queen of justice and waffle house.
The possible conflict of interest started when Bill appointed her in the first place. The fact that she's making ambiguous statements about her ongoing role in the investigation confirms this was a media stunt to mitigate her responsibility when they inevitably don't move to indict.
Even with her best damage control team lobbing slow balls at her at the press junket, she openly admits to being best buddies with the Clintons, as if that has no significance in the investigation she was leading up until this point. This is pretty unbelievable, hopefully Trump's charging that bantzcannon as we speak.

Now think about this story: The luckiest reporter in the world just so happened to be there. The reporter said that the FBI didn't want any photography. Bill, as a former President, has SS protection for life, so why were the FBI the ones speaking to the reporter? The SS should have stopped the reporter because they most certainly had set up a perimeter. The FBI had to have been escorting Lynch. Why was the meeting in person, on a private jet? No one knows if there was anyone else there besides Bill.
It just doesn't add up. If the meeting wasn't supposed to be secret, they could have spoken over phone or email. But if the meeting was supposed to be secret, how could the reporter possibly have gotten past the SS, and even if they did, why did the FBI confront them, and not the SS? If the reporter had broken the SS perimeter they would have interviewed her. Why was it reported so quickly? Why did Lynch so quickly admit to it? It doesn't add up.

This would SEEM to mean, as far as she's saying, that she would not do what Holder did with Petraeus, which was that the FBI investigated and set up a felony and Holder reduced it to a misdemeanor. I THINK.
However, that isn't a full recusal and she would still review the case, so I don't know if there's any shenanigans she could pull there, or if she's now saying, "I am a rubber stamp in the shape of a nigger".
