As far as I understand, you can use a firearm to defend your house easily and with common sense, if the guys run away and don't have any of your shit you could in trouble if you shot them, but if they served any real threat to you or stole something and ran you could probably get away with using the potentially lethal force of a firearm, and even if the cops did charge you, you'd probably get a not guilty verdict in court.

If historically we'd have combined the wealth and knowledge of the English people and the zeal of the french, we'd have a real Canada worth fighting for to this day.
