Pretty much this. If Light had done the eye trade he would have won the first time he saw L. Also, since he's so damn smart and whatnot, he could have invented life-extension technologies to live much longer than an ordinary human anyway, rendering the penalty basically meaningless. Or, since the Death Note can control someone's actions for up to 23 days before their death, he could have just gotten some eminent scientist to do it for him, email him all the papers describing it and then take a flying leap off a bridge.

If Light Yagami was real he'd get rid of people who make shitty posts like this.
