So now that it's pretty much 2017 it means there is only 3 more years in this decade
How will we look at the 2010s in retrospect as a whole?

The 2000s can be summed up with War on Terror, George Bush, the rise of web 2.0 and things like World of Warcraft, Linkin Park, Green Day.etc

How will people sum up this decade?

I'm sure the decade between 1920 and 1929 was worse as far as quality for the average person goes

The United States has been in decline since the 1980s thought and the 90s was arguably the last truly great decade in American history before 9/11 happened and everything fucked up

People are calling the current state of global armed conflict "Cold War 2"

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_War_II
Technically not a World War. Likewise, the period between the end of World War 2 in 1945 and 2016 is called the "Long Peace"

Jacob Gonzalez

How can they call it the Long Peace when we had the (first) Cold War from 1947-1991?

Dominic Moore
Dominic Moore

There was little armed conflict during the Cold War except in the middle East but on a global scale it doesn't mean much. That's why we're still in the long peace period. Before 1945 western powers were constantly waging war. Today it's just proxy wars with the middle East as a battleground

The way I see it we're still in the 1990's. Hopefully the 2020's will turn things around.

This evolved into emo shit in the 2000's
Which evolved into hipstershit in the 2010's

I hate the aesthetic of this decade. It's ugly, visually. And I absolutely loathe the thought that people will look back on their youth one day and shed a tear over ten hour chillstep mixes and pastel pink grid iPhone wallpapers. I don't think the average person will look back on the 2010s and think all that much about politics, I mean just look at the way people look back on the 80s – they think of pulp novels and synthesizers, not the Cold War and AIDS.
Hard to be objective on that of course. I'm nostalgic for a lot of typical 2000s things because I'm nostalgic for how much simpler my life was back then, not because Paris Hilton's musical career, playing some SpongeBob jump'n'run on my GameBoy Advance 24/7, gel pens and Drake and Josh were actually good. You really only choose to remember the things you like, on the long run.

The "Liberal uprising" didn't really start happening until Obama got into the white house. That gave Niggers new waves of confidence as well as the left in general which led to sweeping new right for faggots and feminine penises.

We need to put niggers back in their place again and remind them who the majority still is

The 2000's will be looked at as the precursor to massive technological development.
The fuck does this mean?
Do you realize the so-called "massive technological development" has been happening since the early 1900s?
In 1900 most of the worlds population still rode on horseback, in 1969 we landed on the moon. No century since before the 20th century has seen such dramatic technological advancement.

Most of the shit we use today that we call "new technology" was developed in the 1970s/1980s. The Microcomputer, fuel-injection/fully electric vehicles, the Space Shuttle, satellite TV, the internet (What was developed in the 90s was the world-wide-web, something that utilized existing internet lines developed in the 80s) LCD screens.etc

The only real new technological development has been in the study of meta-materials like graphene as well as new understandings of physics. Other than that its just logical improvements on shit we already had been developing for the past 30 years

The Obama years, they'll be called. The time when cultural marxism, identity politics, communism and social justice were at the height of their power. The left will wail and gnash their teeth and destroy any shot of winning an election for the next 40 years by doubling down. Eventually the socialists and SJWs will jump ship to the Green Party. We'll see a few elections where the Green Party gets around 4% of the vote, showing the true number of progressives there are. The Democrats will attempt to rebrand themselves as moderates, and after around 40 years of Republican rule, it'll work.

In the meantime most progressive media networks will have squandered their parents fortunes and go out of business. NBC/Universal/GE or whatever will eventually file bankruptcy as they've made all of their networks extremely unprofitable, CNN will become the new MSNBC less extreme, but taking their place dead last in the ratings.

Most of the movie studios will be gobbled up by China. This will eventually escalate into a full culture war. Unfortunately China will likely win and dominate the film industry as they prefer to cast their movies with whites and asians (they put Matt Damon in the freaking Great Wall of China movie.)

Twitter will likely be sold to Google, New York and California will increasingly be seen as counter-culture, a meme like "the two towers" will spring up about the two media conglomerates controlling what the other 48 states see and hear. San Francisco will likely go bankrupt with the new sanctuary city laws.

Trump will be re-elected, then afterwards the Republicans will run Rubio and he'll win. Unfortunately they won't learn from their mistakes and the Republicans will then run progressives and fuck up the budget until the country get sick of it. In the mid 50's the Democrats will start to rise back to power, but it'll be a different party then.

Feminism, communism and social justice will all be completely dead within 8 years and the left will try desperately to distance from all three of them and claim people on both sides supported it as they do everything. Marxists won't cease to exist though, there are always failures, they'll just start calling themselves something else as they always have. I see them sticking to the term "progressive" and trying to co-opt the words "democracy" and "futurist".

US and Russian relations will get cozier and cozier in the coming decades.

The whole flat aesthetics point is to be as ergonomic and efficient as possible.
Ever since the 1890 and the 50's future has been described as an exaggeration of current aesthetics, usually falling flat to deliver due to cost saving choices or the end of people liking that style, at the end real technological advances are as simple as possible.
A flat metro design, based in the cities symbolism of their metro transportation is which is already thought to be as simple and understandable as possible gives a more realistic vision of the future.

Although I might be biased, even as a kid I enjoyed simplistic, efficient designs and thought past designs look like a clusterfuck.

For once I enjoy the modern cars designs based on the 2005's Chrysler LX base, and metro style if you know how to edit it in order and color.
