This wasn't bad at all

Saw this yesterday because of Maisie

The premise and the title is shitty they even do a joke about the title, but the movie itself isn't. The hero's motivation is very good, the ability is also nice and he uses it very creatively. And depite all the things he can do, he is still a tall, skinny, awkward-looking guy. He doesn't become a sensation or some super-human instantly, and the story is interesting. I liked the effects, and the moral of the story - these fucking smartphones are our biggest weakness.

Maisie gets hurt a lot, so Maisie-haters, this is your movie.

The ending is a bit weird though, but I'd watch it again.

Besides the painful lack of Maisie, I had mostly positive impressions too. The technical aspect was handled especially well, can't find the information on budget but assuming it was rather modest, the film looked and sounded really good. As far as plot is concerned, it seemed quite derivative to me. First act and protagonist's buildup reminded me of Kick-ass too much for example (from what I remember, it's been like half a decade since I've seen it). Another issue I had is the extent of hero's powers, which are disproportionate to the conflict presented. So he's basically able to manipulate and hack any mechanical device, vehicle or instrument, transfer unlimited funds at will and the climax we get in the end is a showdown with a local, small-time mobster? I understand that's protagonist's motivation, but his skills are so powerful you're never in doubt how it's all going to tun out.
Bill's acting range is obviously limited - literally the same body language as in Crickley Hall, where he portrays a completely different character - but it's believable and suitable enough for this role. He's ouplayed by the evil blond guy who Maisie fuck*ed IRL :o, he's very solid. And Maisie is fantastic, like always!

Aside from than gorilla looking girl I liked the movie. I just wish they stop this deconstruction bullshit of vigilantism and vengeance themes. I want me some fucking honest to god film where the protagonist gives no shit about morals and ethics and just strives to do what he think is right and sticks to his guns, never faltering his own code and belief.

How rude, Miranda Richardson is a respected British actress
Isn't that what iBoy ultimately did though?

They're special unit though, surely those are armed?

the most their police can get armed with is probably tasers
the regular bong cops use spoons and forks

Theres no such thing user, theres normal people, and freaks with shit taste who like the Goblin-grill

How about you watch the movie then, user? She's treated very badly there, and you might even appreciate her acting, if not looks.

Do the iBoy lead actors have good chemistry?

Bullshit. This is better than Kick-Ass, because Tom has a real motivation. Dave's motivation is dumbassery

Another piece of bullshit. The guy is physically unthreatening, surrounded by mobsters, and he needs at least one electronic device to use his powers. After that sonic attack on Cutz, the whole thing takes a stupid turn, and the way he kills/knocks out Ellman is completly made-up and unfounded in the previous acts… And both of those, this and the sonic attack are coming out of nowhere, with no indication that he has these abilities.

10/10 made me laugh

I liked him the best.

Do you think the part where they commit rape on it made Maisie wet for Charley Palmer Rothwell? Or the part where he keeps her as a hostage?

Did she get gang raped Death wish 2 maid style?

More or less what I guessed it to be, they certainly made a good value of the money availble
There are certainly some significant similiarities - guy gets wounded trying to prevent crime, gains superpowers thanks to the injury, discovers his capabilities and deals with the guys who wounded him at some point later before moving on to the big fish. One could argue that it's a trope within superhero genre not exclusive to Kick-Ass, but even so the "derivative" argument stands. You're completely right about the motivation though, at least a basic insight and reasoning why the hero acts the way he does and why he sets out on his path is more than we're used to these days.
Disregarding the sonic blasts, I saw the "surrounded by mobsters, takes them out by blowing up their phones" scene comming half an hour before it actually happened. And that would be actually fine within the film's logic, because he had phone shrapnels in his brain. By "extent" I meant that his powers aren't limited to phones, and considering the scope (bunch of edgy high schoolers, bunch of semi-professional gangsters and one boss) doesn't really require the ability of scamming the Bank of England or controlling cars with his mind. Keeping it just phone-related would work better in my opinion.

I enjoyed the acting there - casual, but persuasive.

You don't see anything too graphic, just bits of distorted phone footage with hooded guys crowding Maisie who lies in bed and protests

What if it was the part where SHE points the gun at HIM? Is she submissive, or dominating?

It amazes me how anyone can find her attractive

Now fuck off shill

Bro, Dave didn't get any superpower. He didn't become stronger or more resilient, he just didn't felt the pain.

Sounds pretty super to me

That videoclip is still one of her best, if not her best ever performance.

If you look at Darkman, he can't feel pain either, BUT he also has that nerve-ending cut, which allows his body to be boosted by a gorillion of adrenalin, and that makes his super strong. But Dave just can't feel his injuries. He doesn't stop, but her can die easily.

Yeah you're right, I understand the difference. Still, you can't deny that the initial plot structure is something we've all seen/read already.
What's Buttslut's superpower?

Being able to drink an amount of alcohol that would kill another person with the same bodily proportions

Being able to smoke like a chimney without rotting instantly

Being able to consume drugs without puffing up like Sophie

Being able to turn into a funny, cute girl that she was before for the cameras any time

Now that's what I call a movie premise! And it doesn't take much imagination either

Holy Heavens, she IS tiny! I mean, look at her, she is standing next to 2 regular sized bottles placed on a stool!

According to imdb, Corvidae will be released this year. Do we believe them?

Hehe :) Seriously though, the way Bill towers over her in photos I thought he's well over six feet, but he's only 1.79m! She's microscopic. Imagine standing next to her And not just standing

We do now that you've got those numbers. When did she shoot her scenes, 2013?

I didn't even noticed the trips!

So what's your final iBoy rating? On X/5 or X/10 scale?

5/5, just finishing my article. Overall it has it's flaws, but it was so much better than I thought!

sage for munter outside of quarantine

Oh look, the "I sage despite tehre is a hide option in the cataloge" guy again. Do you sage the Jenny threads as well? Or the Natalie Alyn Lind one?

Also, let me ask you, have you ever been to /got/? It's basically "muh books". That doesn't bother you, huh? Well, this thread is about a movie, that has only a little GoT-relevance, and it has a huge Maisie-relavance, so fuck off

Something's wrong with your brain, user

What goes through your mind when you look at that tranny? Are you seriously attracted to a boy that was raised as a girl?
