I think this is probably the strangest comic Venom has ever been in.

Anyone want to read Venom & The Truckstop of Doom? It's his eighth appearance and his first solo story, actually from 1991, I got the decade wrong. It was in Amazing Spider-Man annual #25 and shows what happened between Eddie breaking out of prison and then traveling back to New York.

Well I'd assume most people choose to live in the cities that they like the most. In Eddie's case it's his hometown.

Not my favorite Venom comic, but not my least favorite either.

Eddie had cancer and after watching The Passion of the Christ he decides to sell the symbiote to highest bidder at some underground criminal auction house, a mafia Don buys it, Eddie then donates all the money to charity and resigns himself to dying of cancer. Obviously that's not the end of Eddie's story but Millar intended it to be because Millar is a moron.

The Mafia Don gives the symbiote to his son because he wants his son to become a badass or something stupid, the symbiote then abandons his son mid webswing and the kid falls to his death. Then the symbiote finds the Scorpion and bonds with him.

That whole plotline is so phenomenally stupid, it beggars belief.

Did you read Nemesis? Stupid is what Millar does best, I also left out a lot of the edgy stuff in the story, like how the Angelo Fortunato Venom rips out a Spider-Man imposters heart and how when Eddie Brock finds out how much death the symbiote has caused he cuts his wrists.

Millar has issues. Still not as bad as Bendis though. Although I am glad the story happened, because without it we never would have gotten Anti-Venom. That's the good thing about comics, everything can always be salvaged eventually.

Is that where we're headed next?

Actually yeah, I think so. I'm going to compile the story of Eddie selling the symbiote then all of his appearances after that. We should be able to get through that stuff before the new Carnage issue comes out.

At some point I'd like to show you guys the very first Venom appearances though, when he's just trying to kill Spider-Man. Those ones are interesting because even then he'll occasionally save babies and other innocents mid fight.

What surprises me about comic writers is how little they pair up Venom and Black Cat, in Venom's first couple appearances he had a few run ins with her, then never again after Maximum Carnage.

When they're looking for Carnage, Venom is singing 'Strangers in the night'… right after a scene where he is cuddling a baby.

She had another run-in with Venom in the story where the cop is bonding with Carnage's off-spring. But Venom doesn't remember Black Cat. He just says 'We like her scent.' or something.

But you are right, those two don't get paired up a lot. Imagine Felicia's look if she found out one of her ex-lover's were bonded with an alien being which grabbed her head and smashed it against a brick wall causing her nose to break.
