You're afraid that if I go back out there, I'll fail

Want to what?
Fail? Go back out there?
Did Nolan forget to write the rest of the dialogue here?

The next line, "for you", is mean to be part of the same sentence.

Considering the last part of Bateman's sentence is "I will fail", I assume it is the object of the want verb. So the butler is afraid Bateman wants to fail. I guess he is afraid Bateman wants to fail so he doesn't have to try anymore.

If I go back out there, will you die?

It would be extremely afrightening.

You're an old guy

This is literally so random xD

the great thing about Mr. Nolan's films is that they have so many layers of meaning

I was going to say that Christopher Nolan should get an honorary doctorate and be called Dr. Nolan but he is too high a person for that. Nolan should be the first person to receive a "Bravorate" degree.

Br. Nolan

BRAVO NOLAN

but Br. is already short for brother

Sir Nolan. He's a brit, right?

Even being knighted and calling him a "Sir", is a very small honor for a man as great as Nolan.

after Sir comes the given name of the person, not the family name

how fucking stupid do people have to be not to understand this?

Actually no if he's the only person knighted in his family. Besides, let's not stand on ceremony here.

>The prefix is used with the holder's given name or full name, but never with the surname alone. For example, whilst Sir Alexander and Sir Alexander Fleming would be correct, Sir Fleming would not.

Damn I fucked up. How will I ever recover?
