NEW 2017 DUCKTALES REBOOT TEASER

Disney XD Reveals ‘DuckTales’ Creative Team, Teaser Art

“The crack creative team behind the highly anticipated new DuckTales series has been revealed — along with fresh teaser artwork — leading into this week’s Comic-Con International. The 2D animated show will launch on Disney XD in 2017 and follow the all-new adventures of Scrooge McDuck, his grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, and Donald Duck.

DuckTales will be executive produced by Annie Award nominee Matt Youngberg (Ben 10: Omniverse). The story editor and co-producer is Francisco Angones (Wander Over Yonder) and the art director is Sean Jimenez (Gravity Falls). The show is being produced by Disney Television Animation.

The newly revealed artwork — created by the series art team lead by Youngberg and Jimenez — will grace the back of the DuckTales Cinestory Vol. 1 comic that will debut on the show floor at CCI on July 20. The comic is a collectible edition featuring a retelling of the first five original DuckTales episodes, and will be available nationwide September 27.”

Sigh of relief.

Also, this looks like not shit.

you must've missed the first teaser image, it already looked pretty good

Noice.

No I did see that one, but they were calling it "concept art" so there was some uncertainty about whether that was what the show would actually look like.

It seems both comics Holla Forums and cartoons Holla Forums have something to look forward to.

Who's the girl?

nah, being a cinestory comic, it's one of those that's just screengrabs with wordballoons.

there's plenty of good duck comics coming out in the states though, now, so still, stuff to look to

webby, the token girl character in the original who was annoying and useless. with some hope they make her better here without whiplashing into mary sue instead

She must of been very useless, because I do not remember here at all.

you remember any episodes with what seemed like a toddler version of daisy duck being useless and whining

Maybe Toon Disney never aired the episodes not likely but my favorite episodes that I do remember dealt with time travel and Gizmo Duck.

I just hope the animation looks good, because chances are they're gonna animate this in flash because nobody wants to animate anything traditionally anymore.

The Mickey Mouse shorts are animated in flash and they look great.

it ain't about the medium, its about how much effort you put into it. Flash can be just a good as hand draw stuff and it doesn't waste as much paper.

ToonBoom Harmony

Most television shows are traditionally animated. Most likely because they can phone it in, either just do it on Flash or ship it out to Korea and let the Koreans handle it.

Oh god, pls, no, this needs to stop. Too many reboots. Just stop already.

HAVE SOME NEW IPS

Are you seriously just now finding out about this? The DuckTales reboot was announced like a year and a half ago.

Also, there's no reason not to bring back DuckTales, provided they can do it right.

For fucks sake, can anybody explain to me the sudden popularity of the term "IP" over "Franchise", "Series", "Games" or simply "Cartoons"?

It's a size-fits-all term executives like to use

Fuck no. This is going to end up being tumblrtier shit isn't it.
Webby porn when

I have two ideas…

1) Youtube and other social media has given birth to people who feel like they are part of the entertainment industry by simply making video rants or being able send tweets to companies. Thus making people more likely to use executive lingo since they are likely getting responses from these companies with that kind of talk in them

2) Because Intellectual Property has radically different connotations from a "franchise" or "series". You can't really say "series" because it's possible to have multiple series in a franchise (Gundam, Mario games, etc).

Maybe one of the best examples is the series Super Smash Bros. It's a series that has multiple IPs in the same franchise.

It might. I'm choosing to hope they keep it more of an adventurous tone, and that this being the age of the internet and easy access to information, they'll hew closer to the Disney comics in tone and characters and stories. I know the likelyhood of Duck Avenger's low, but at the very least I'll hope for Fethry.

I wonder who they'll have voicing Scrooge, since his original actor died?
And I hope they adapt some of the more popular comics into episodes.

a life and tales arc isn't very likely, I think, but I'd love to at least see its first chapter as an episode. Flashback to kid Scrooge being awesome against the… they're named Whitewater, in English? The rival clan to the McDuck?

Not with the influx of old CN talent Disney's been getting recently. It's practically 90's Cartoon Network over there.

OK, not sure if I should but I am looking forward to both this and Samurai Jack. Hopefully I will not be disappointed. Disney has been getting a lot of decent people working there so hopefully it is good, at least as well animated as the Mickey shorts.

I really hope so. Some of the Scrooge centric stories would be fantastic to make into animated form.

...

The Whiskervilles?

Yes, I was mixing them with Donald's cousin Whitewater Duck. Abner, Rosa called him, I think.

Muh nigga!

Did Alan Young finish his voice work on this or did they get somebody else to play Scrooge?

Likely the latter. The dude was 97.

Even before his death, they'd announced from the start there'd be a general recast.

...

Fuck off maymay

every reboot is fucking shit or at least at the bare minimum is less-good than the original, are you not aware of this yet? what are you expecting to get out of this reboot?

its going to fucking suck, like the PPG remake, the teen titans reimagination (or more like toddler titans, since thats the target audience), and the xiaolin showdown reboot.

at points in time, im really glad my favorite toons are unpopular because it means they will never get rebooted and hence shat on, thank god no one will ever do this to Dave the barbarian… it had one season, and it was beautiful, and that's how it will remain.

god im so jagged

nigger it's a second chance at an adaptation of the donald duck comics that already shows more promise than ducktales did. Fuck ducktales and fuck this being a reboot, as far as I'm concerned it's a new show about animating a 70-year-old world-wide comic book heritage. Or do you complain that every new Batman show is a reboot? Was Brave and the Bold a reboot of BTAS?

I knew what that was before clicking it

Odd they announce this months after Alan Young died.

No one can replace him as Scrooge McDuck. or maybe they had a contract with him? Now they can go and rape Ducktales.

...

The grill was in the TV show

I really like the artstyle. So the question is will the writing be good? I really like that new Mickey Mouse cartoon series, hopefully this shares the same quality.

They announced it back in March, casual scum.

If it has the same writers as the Mickey shorts, it'll be good.

He wasn't even the first voice

can we get retards who don't know what they're talking about shot

Art has lost any spiritual value and is now nothing more than "content" or "property"

Basically we are living in a dark age where the masses and the people in charge of everything are scum.

I'll only watch it if they get Sir Sean Connery to do Uncle Scrooge's voice.

HA

Those Mickey Mouse shorts shouldn't be as good as they are. Why are they good?

Paul Rudish being in charge might've helped. For reference, he's worked with Genndy Tartakovsky before on several projects.

Also the current management of Disney TVA felt they've been playing it safe for too long

Not complaining at all, they're a goldmine for reaction images.

They did what?

Holy shit. No kidding. These are great.

Sorry, I'm late.

Darkwing Duck > Gizmoduck

Who's gonna voice Uncle Scrooge?

The zombie of Alan Young.
