I have no idea how this would turn out in practice but there are some interesting aspects to it, of which AnCaps I never heard talk about.
1) The people would become much more aware and tribalistic. This is good, considering the monotony and reliance on government people have now.
2) The weak would die off. There is only so much that charity would be willing to provide. So this would force people to either become self-reliant or end their gene-pool.
Sadly, it's hardly doable with today's population and IQ.
The difference is these organisations are A) voluntary and B) subject to direct economic competition.
It doesn't need to be impossible to take someone's stuff, only unprofitable and dangerous.

For you it will be more dangerous and unprofitable than for the defender, in so far as people will pay more to defend themselves than others will pay to attack them (ie. I will pay a lot to not have myself and my family killed).
Again the government police only cost a few dollars a week in most countries. Privatise them and they most likely get cheaper. Buy guns to go with them, spend more if you're in a risky area, etc
