How shit is it?

How shit is it?

OP, I think you know as well as the rest of us that we aren't going to like it despite the fact that we haven't watched it beyond trailers that tell us everything we needed to know about it.

It's merely pandering to little girls who were unlikely to buy comics, not because of "hurr git wimmin outta muh comics" but because no one gives a shit about comics in this day and age. And if a girl or boy for that matter starts to read comics, they'd be Japanese ones.

All the girls are going to be very competent. All the boys are going to be either stupid men or awkward, immature shotas. Girls will win everytime because they always have something to prove. Nevermind all these girls have super powers like the ability to fly and shit.

This is going to either flop to the superior Monster High or rack in so much dosh that DC will pander even more to this crowd.

TL;DR- It's 98% likely to be VERY SHIT.

I wasn't aware it was out, so I don't have anything to base an opinion on. Why don't you embed an episode and learn how to start a thread?

Who the hell is the fairy chick?

...

Bumblebee, or Bubblegum, or something.

Why does DC insist on shoving her stupid face into fucking everything?

She doesn't have any cool powers, she had an annoying personality to begin with and was worthless except to play off the Joker at times, and now she's basically a shitty discount Deadpool.

I can't wait until someone like Geoff Johns stuffs her into the grave for shock value in his next event. Then I might actually buy a comic from that hack for once.

BTAS cred

This irritates me to no end, and I don't even read comics. She's in bloody everything Batman now. Movies, tv shows, games, you name it. I can't stand her.

Seriously DC, could you at least try?

Call me back when manga isn't easy as shit to buy or pirate is it is now. Also…

Hahaha, no. Manga is just way more accessible than the current state of American comics. Especially in a climate where American comics = capes.

It's telling when Manga is even able to do capes better than the good old USA.

I agree with second user, it's FUCKING DELUSIONAL to think that kids aren't way more likely to pick up manga than a western comic. Manga are more readily available, book stores with maybe 1 or 2 four foot sections for trades will have double that for manga, and anything really popular will have every available volume constantly on shelf. Not to mention art is far more consistent in manga, since the creative team doesn't just change mid stream. It's way more appealing to the average person who doesn't want to deal with figuring out which runs for their fav character aren't total shit.

it has no Raven, so

Potential brand confusion?

Oh yeah, WB will exclude characters for that sorta thing. Anyway, why aren't we watching episodes of this here, they're real short.

Is it because it's awful, and I'm realizing that now that I'm watching the video I just embedded? I mean, even if I wasn't a grown man, it's just a Monster High rip off, right? Are the dolls good?

I have to say, when they introduce Barbara, I was hoping that Wonder Woman would accidentally snap her spine. But I guess that's not the level of humor we're shooting for.

There are multiple reasons:

It's not particularly good. It's just a bunch of DC girls hanging out doing nothing to sell toys and shit to little girls.

Can't they at least talk about their periods and puberty? Or domestic abuse! Something. Just give me one "very special episode".

No, just watch Supergirl and Batgirl fight over cake.

Not until they become teens, buddy.

watch it for moments like this one

"Tell the truth, Harley! What does Ivy's pussy taste like?"

"APRICOTS!"

fuck, that made me lose my breath laughing

Its funny how marketers keep thinking thats what girls want to watch. Characters doing nothing while being pretty. I recall shows like Avatar Last Airbender being popular with girls as well, and there the girls actually did do something with their superpowers.

Yes, its the Barbie/Bratz format of pretty girls going shopping and being vapid little whores, but when you have characters with superpowers, you could easily spice things up with little creativity on how they use those superpowers.

I mean goddamn, even My Little Pony does that.

Probably because action is expensive and the people making these cartoon have lower opinions of girls than /r9k/.

It's shit, but I'm willing to give it a free pass since it's literally a show for little girls in the same was I'm willing to give Batman Unlimited a free pass since it's for really little kids.

They'll just not read anything, weeb. If they do start with comics, they'll get western trades from a bookstore since most normalfags are intimidated by manga.

...

No they won't you're in fucking denial. Face it, way more people watch anime, hear "the manga is better" and try it out. People watch superhero cartoons and either wish the books could be more simple, or watch the movies and are happy they don't have to read most of the books. Would you WANT kids picking up a lot of modern Marvel books? Why even been this insecure about it, you can disagree but calling people weebs for stating a basic fact paints you as childish.

You're basically saying "Weebs might read manga after getting into anime", which requires them to have already been into an anime, likely meaning they're older, at least old enough to pirate anime and watch it on their own or something. I haven't met many anime fans younger than 14.
So with that argument, it's equally true a kid is more likely to watch a movie, play a game or see a cartoon with cape characters (not to mention the free advertising from most major heroes being household names). Besides, you're forgetting that, aside from you major spergs, most comic fans read magna and most manga fans read comics, or at least have an appreciation.
There's a lot less stopping a young kid (8ish) from picking up a trade of Batman or Spider-Man, or getting an issue, even, in the places where that's possible. Both still have the major barrier that they're fairly niche, adult audiences which they court, but that's because there seems to be a lack of will to sell the kid-friendly capeshit and Nipponcrap.

tl;dr
>>>/a/

It's not /a/ to just tell you kids are more likely to go for manga. What's even the problem? I'm not even making judgement about quality (though I feel there is more kid friendly manga just do to manga having better division between genres). It's not even weeb to just watch anime, a lot of people casually at least have watched some anime.

I think the Marvel Adventures stuff, and more self contained comic digests like them, would have been a good way for western comics to compete with manga long run, but they didn't like the numbers short term and didn't push it enough. Which is sad, because Marvel Adventures was actually really fun.

Perhaps I had you wrong. You're actually right there, and both the Big Two have made efforts. DC had one called Jimmy DC or Junior DC or something, but that was shit. And I think they also did a Superman one, which was fun.
If Marvel and DC just printed cheap as fuck comics which are kid-friendly, pushed them into newsagents and supermarkets and marketed them heavily at kids, they'd be laughing all the way to the bank.
Personally, I'd have something similar to the old Marvel UK stuff, some original, continuity-lite stuff, a series of reprints from kid-friendly back issues (with a light prefix to provide continuity), a showcase of smaller characters doing fun stuff and perhaps a guide to getting trades and such. It was deeply successful at the time, but editorial mucking about killed it. I still genuinely believe that's a big part of what pushed comics into being nerds only.

As for manga, yeah, there's kid-friendly manga, but I've never seen it in shops other than specialist ones or in small quantities, which basically makes it the same as comics.
Really, it's all about who can get a gateway drug out there, once the fuckers are hooked, they're in for at least a few years. As we all can sadly testify.

Marvel put a few cheap trades in Walmarts a few years ago, not sure if they still do it. I miss seeing simple comic digests available in places, and don't think there is a good reason not to at least do cheap reprints of some older stuff to get into gas stations and grocery stores again. But there must be something holding it all back, or Marvel and DC would do it again.

I actually have the fortune of having a local book distribution place that has big sales on overstock every year. I find a few trades from time to time, but I normally find a crap ton of manga just because it's more available these days.

I think what DC is doing with some pack ins that are the animated movies packed with trade paperback for 20 bucks is a great idea.

That's enough information to make a conclusion that this is some pandering garbage.

The dolls look okay, I guess.

That intro song was cancer. Is this the music kids like these days?

not the same age group they are trying to get with this one.

They are just being lazy

Are you sure? Let's watch another episode or ten, and be totally sure you hate the theme.

And yes, a punchline in that episode is that Harley take gigantic shits.

I never understood why the first big story they did with Harley was her helping the Joker KILL BABIES in No Man's Land, if they later were going to market her to little kids all day everyday. I guess there was no real overall plan. And no one ever wants to talk about No Man's Land.

Reminder they could have done Dial H for Hero as a magical girl series instead.

Why am I posting all these? Is it because I decided to watch them all, and want you all to suffer as well?

Yes.

In this episode, we go easy on Harley because she's a retard.

Not going to lie, they're all look cute

...

...

...

...

Shit, why is Cheetah such a cunt?

In this episode, we find that Ivy is a master criminal

...

It's a really small part, right in the middle of that one, but I really like how Ivy looks when she jumps into action. Two dynamic angles in a row,, the style really looks at its best. It just feels like a small moment where the cartoon was at its best.

I guess this is the last one of season one, the rest are "best of" videos. Though I guess season 2 is out as well.

its weird cause Beast Bot and Starfire hve already popped up there, even TT design Jinx appears as a back character in couple of episodes

That's shocking?

They all have the same face.

Gotta keep pushing Harley and Ivy.

I know her from BTAS

What the fuck happened

How did it happen

Why did it happen

I can only think it's frank miller's fault somehow

But she had lewd moments in TAS. Some of it was either toned down or removed because of censors.

I won't tell you what fetishes we get in season 2, but some of you might be happy.

This also raises some questions. If Superman went to Super Hero High, who founded it? The JSA? Where do super villains come from? Are they drop outs? Do they have their own school?

Another Superhero of the month one. These aren't as interesting, and are extra short. It does confirm Apokolips existing though. I wonder Granny Goodness runs a school as well, and sends out pamphlets.

Damn it, Supergirl and Batgirl! You're loose cannons! You caused 18 Million Dollars in property damage!

I keep thinking one of these will end with Barbara's spine being shattered. Maybe at the end of this season.

Harley is rewarded for being mentally ill.

Batgirl has to learn to fly, but due to nerves her spine is shattered into a million pieces

And that's it so far. Probably another episode next week. There is a trailer for the direct to DVD movie coming out, but that would cost money, and no one's got time for that.

Most normalfags have watched SAO.

Wow. This is just awful.

Just think, that time could been you watching a episode of Ojisan to Marshmallow.

Just bringing it up to state that 3 minute commercial shorts CAN be good.

Not that this one is.

...

Fuck! I made eye contact, now they'll kill me in my sleep, fuck you

Why did they even bother with this? Why not just make a kids show everyone can enjoy? Like BTBATB, BTAS, JL(U), GLTAS and TT?

well, this is embarrasing, fuck i am trying to make this for the third time.

...

...

Cheaper and you don't have to deal with network execs.

...

...

...

...

That was the first issue
I don't know if there is a second issue

seriously this shit is only gonna be watched by the same neckbeards who watch MLP is they actually are capable of getting erections from anything that doesn't look like a Horse

More like the people who watch Monster High

Fearless isn't a superpower, it's a mental illness.

1. That pun was unfunny as all hell
2. Fuck you for trying to reference "With great power comes great responsibility." Uncle Ben is rolling in his grave and he's not even from the same comic company.

...

...

Welp.

fuck you too, DC

Keep us posted on your findings. Maybe something decent can come out of this.

aaaaaaaand… I give up

looked on paheal, deviantArt, newgrounds, google, yahoo, duckduckgo…

LITERALLY NOTHING

...

Yeah, THIS. Comic books have reached an absurd business model where the 20 page pamphlets have more ads, are way more expensive and have less content and plot progression than they did 50 years ago. The business model made sense when they were cheap and disposable, you'd buy a stack to keep the kids happy and forget about it.

Not to mention you have to find speciality stores for the damn things run by the last few nerds who are crazy enough to still run them. It's gone full model trains.

Manga on the other hand? You buy a book-sized collection and get your money's worth. (although they have their own problems with filler and pacing, it's less ridiculous)

Quality of storytelling, art, and pacing aside.. Manga is objectively easier to get into compared to western comics.

Unless you're an idiot who starts with volume 67 of One Piece and then bitches when you're not sure what's going on, there's really no difficulty to it.

Smaller indie comics, shit like Bone and Saga I guess, have the same benefit. You buy the first TPB and read on from there as they are released.

You want to read Marvel, though? Well, I hope you like ads, and I hope you like being told to read other books and digging around online for answers.

Reading the opener page on each issue does try to alleviate this, but it's really more of a band-aid for the problem that their storytelling and production are just all over the fucking place.

How often do books these days even have a story that starts and ends in the same issue? So many things feel like nothing is happening now, due to pacing things out for trades all day.

And even One Piece has huge ridiculous recap pages with names and portraits of everyone vaguely involved in the arc. Which got even more ridiculous around Dressrosa.

Decompressed storytelling is a drug that comics are terminally addicted to.
