I actually like the idea because now headphone makers can make an internal DAC inside the headphones so you're no longer at the mercy of the shitty cheap internal DAC of your PC or a large bulky external DAC if on a phone
Taking up less space than a phono is just icing on the cake
And if you bought any fucking device within the past 2 years you should have a USB type-C somewhere on your devices
It will fail regardless though because 3.5mm has too big a legacy and Apple is retarded for trying to force this shit on everyone
