What happened to 4chan? I came over here in 2014 as a lot of you guys did...

I first went onto 4chan's Holla Forums when I was 18 in 2007. Rest in Pepperoni.

We're here.
We are the heart and soul of 4chan. We have transcended 4chan and left it as a dying carcass.

I can think of a number of reasons…

In short, the biggest problems were; teenagers, and cellphones.

The reason that those communities aren't big here is that they had breety much run the course of their best periods by the time this site was a thing.

The original user bases that made up those places are gone.

Smaller is allright, there's lot of boards here you can hang out on. Ibs don't need 1,000s of pph.

I kind of think its inevitable that since the only ibs the average 4chan user knows are Holla Forums and 4chan that when the mods censor something over there, they'll flock here.

Could get ugly honestally.

Good answers, it was definetly gradual. It didn't turn to shit over night, but it took the jump.

This sites not perfect, but 4chan was never perfect either.

I feel like we're sitting here as some of the last anons who care. I feel like a lot of the people who did care, gave up.

Remember guys, its not all in constant second by second posting. Enjoy that you can have a conversation without some meme spouting retard saying the same thing over and over.

There's always going to be and always was dumb content on these sites, you're supposed to just not feed it.

If 4chan decides to come over here and shit up the board with their faces of Holla Forums, rate my dick, hookup threads, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to it, rather, I would leave it alone, and probably make fun of the fags posting it.

however, if they were coming in droves, I will probably limit them to 1 thread per topic because a little bit of it never killed anybody cancer kills and I don't want that shit to infect Holla Forums.

I hate to sound like an old fart but kids these days don't understand or respect the spirit of anonymity or the spirit of a hacker. They spew every irrelevant detail of their lives all over the ether like the attention whores they are. They define themselves by corporate-controllled mematic group identities. They never had to enter so much as a single line of code to make a game work. They never opened a hex editor. They don't know what a packet contains. Hell they don't know what a packet is. They don't build, they don't practice, and the only things they learn are what they're forced to learn. And that they resent. You won't bring back old user without trashing every iphone in the world and making them write a thousand-line program before they can record yet another inane video about who they met today and the deep meaning to be found on a fucking t-shirt.

Holla Forums is full of people who want to see good Holla Forums threads, while never contributing to Holla Forums

so everyone is just sitting there spectating, but nothing good ever pops up

so then they comment on the boring threads which appeal to the lowest common denominator like porn threads

which keeps porn threads everywhere on Holla Forums but nothing else

Jerry Seinfeld isn't funny, or interesting, and hasn't been relevant for 15 years. But he is savvy. He sees his status and star power waning and he knows he can get a lot of white men (his target audience) to pay attention to him by telling them, 'hey, if people have a problem with what you're saying, it's not your fault for being offensive, it's THEIR fault for being too PC. Don't try to educate yourself and do better in the future, just complain that no one has a sense of humor these days.' It's really a good move on his part because white guys LOVE to complain that they can't say, do, or act any way they want free of social consequences, critique, or criticism, as if that is some form of oppression.

The only people who get their panties in a twist about Political Correctness are people who don't benefit from it. Which is mostly white men. PC means to be sensitive to the culture, gender, and orientation differences of other people. PC basically comes down to being polite and respectful of your fellow humans and recognizing that not everyone thinks, lives or loves like you do. It comes down to fairness in cultural representation and not alienating people based on who they are, where they come from, or what they look like.

Basically, young people are growing up in a world where calling someone a f*g is just as bad as the n-word. Kids these days have friends who are transgender and they don't want their friends treated as the butt of stupid jokes. Young people are more racially mixed than ever before, and are well versed in racist code-speak and will call you out on it. Young women are highly empowered, and they wont stand for tired stereotypes. Basically, young people don't want to hear ill-informed opinions about other people's lives, particularly from an old white man decades past his comedic prime.

And if I'm being honest, I highly doubt any of today's college kids have any interest whatsoever in Jerry-Effing-Seinfeld. It's not 1995. No one cares anymore. He can go cry about PC culture, and how hard his life is, in his big piles of money he made in the 90's, while the rest of us move forward into the 21st century.

Having a tenancy to be more introspective and process the opinions of others will make you a better person in numerous ways - Not everyone has an unhealthy response to criticism.
