One I thought was handled well was this Avatar the Last Airbender crossed with Lovecraft mythos story in which Sokka and Azula get stranded in a frozen wasteland and have to rely on each other to survive.

A Sonic fanfiction where Sonic got into a car accident while driving Amy and she gets severely crippled and continues to go through trauma in what could almost be considered torture porn to the point where she's eventually begging Sonic to sign a DNR on her.

I thought it was great when I was 12. In retrospect, it was fucking hilarious.

It wasn't particularly fucked up, but I once read a fanfiction about a Smurf orphanage where they took care of baby Smurfs. At first it looked adorable, but then it slowly turned into straight up torture porn and the author didn't even seem aware of this fact. It was still not a fluffy pone fanfiction but damn, it was close.

I ended up liking it. For some reason I have a non-sexual fetish for torture fiction of non-human cute little shits, and this seemed like well thought out torture and not just mindless violence like the fluffy pone fics I read after that in hopes of finding something similar.

It'd take a long time to explain in detail every piece of plot, it's mostly a disconnected romp through lifted material from various Fallout titles as the Mary Sue OC Donut Steel Little Pip murders her way across The Wasteland with her party of forgettable faggots. I don't remember a lot of the actual plot, I think it was mostly a mix of Fallout 1 and 3, if memory serves. Where the Enclave were Alicorns who wanted to do something evil like the Master. I don't really remember, it was dumb, and I'm not going to re-read it because it's several novels worth of reading.

Suffice it to say, though. That Fallout 4's simple plot about a man out of time searching for his son, and uncovering the truth behind a shadowy organization, is infinitely superior. The only reason people might consider Fallout Equestria good in the plot department is because most of it is stolen from the original games.

Well, Project Horizons was. And the parts taken from 3 on the original made way more sense when you have magic to explain them than whatever way Bethesda tries to justify it.

One of the Vault dwellers leave, and the protagonist is sent after her because she was the reason for her to be able to leave. Later it becomes a mix between 1 and 3 where they're trying to reactivate a McGuffin to restore weather to the Wasteland while trying to stop the Pegasi Enclave and the mutant alicorns to destroy/conquer it.

Right, Horizons is the stupidly long one with an even more retarded plot. Regular Fallout Equestria is still fucking retarded though.

I'm not saying the plot is worse than Fallout 3, nothing is really worse than the plot in Fallout 3 considering how nonsensical and retarded that entire game is. But Fallout 4's story is actually decent, and only stumbles a bit at the start.

No, it doesn't. Fallout 4's plot is simple, but it makes sense and has some solid moments. Everhyone has reasons for doing the things they do, the companions are all well written and well characterized, the factions are grey and have easily discernible motivations. And the ending doesn't retroactively shit on everything the universe has established beforehand.

Still, you kinda have to admit, it's not a great plot. Still better than 3's though, but no where near as good as NV's.

what's so good about it

It's well written, the plot is very character driven if that's your thing, the developments are well done, there is some decent action and funny moments to be had.

Try it for yourself. Though if you don't like a developing relationship between Ben and Gwen, I rescind my recommendation. I really enjoyed it though. It was a shock to find that this fandom had a decent writer.

I hope by "developing relationship" you mean they fuck each other with very graphical descriptions of the deed.
