Is civilisation a good thing?

Is civilisation a good thing?

Would we be happier living as stone age tribes?

No, because we'd demand for a more secure life. Then, history would repeat itself.

But, being Roman again would be a good thing.

Romani dump.

...

Got involved in another thread. Gimme a sec.

There are documentaries with footage of tribal societies. By seeing the behavior of the people in these tribes, it's very clear that they aren't "happy". The people of these tribes are of the same disposition as most of the other animals that spend most of their time trying to acquire food to eat. They're very instinctual, but mechanical, and not full of very powerful emotions whatsoever beyond the ones closely linked to survival and impulses related to instincts necessary for the prosperity and continuation of the species as a whole. It's a very dry life

With the progression of civilization and technological progress, we were made available to an emotion which we're not designed to have: "Happiness", Of course I'm sure you're aware that in today's society we're having emotional problems + disorders, and a similar amount of dryness and anhedonia in epidemic proportions. The truth is that the reason there's so much emotional fuckery today is because while we've made positive progress in technological and structural developments, we've turned our back on essential ways the body needs to be treated for it to work correctly. Everybody has Vitamin D deficiencies, is filling their body with horrible shit that we're not even close to designed to eat or drink, is sedentary, has disrupted circadian rhythms from artifical light, isn't benefiting from skin contact with the ground's electrons, is drinking water full of toxic bullshit that's nearly bankrupt of necessary minerals, and the list goes on and on. In other words, the ideal society would be one that's connected to natural behaviors like those of the stone age tribes, but also indulges the progress we've made that allows for our enjoyment of life

You're probably right about the tribes. They seem to have worked a lot more hours than people realise just to scrape by.
As for the modern era why do you think people aren't connecting with nature? I mean to a large extent it's voluntary, isn't it?

The vast majority of the population doesn't understand essential mechanics of the human body and how to treat it right. Knowing the actual effects of rewilding and naturalizing would be the only reason to connect with nature besides indulging it as a fleeting novelty. Why would anyone go into nature when all the fun shit is inside the house

I wouldn't want to give up the benefits of modern medicine and lifestyle. What makes people unhappy is long working hours and lack of civil order. If I wanted to make people happier and I had the power, I'd cut the working week down to a maximum of five days. Encourage hobbies, harsher criminal penalties and legalizing recreational drugs.

What's voluntary about concrete everywhere? I mean we need roads but people need natures and animals around them to be mentally healthy.

that is some bullshit

Africa.

Well most people understand this a bit. Or they should by now anyway… do you think people underestimate the benefits?
It seems to me I'm rationally giving up on maximum health but maybe I should do more idk

Aaa wut you'd cut the maximum work week down to five days? What about people who want to work longer?
Stone age people tons of hours

You kind of have the choice of city or country. Most of the world is still countryside; most of most countries are still countryside :/

Nah, poor people don't have a choice where they live. City environments are ugly, every place needs a park or something with a petting zoo for the adults or some shit.

Because some idiots think they'll be happy if they make as much money as they can. This detriments their family life. Instead of spending time building relationships with their community and family they run off to work every hour of the week make the rich richer and themselves poorer in the long run. Since hard workers put other people out of the job. Productivity is important when you have limited labor. But in our society is detrimental to be so productive. A happier, healthier way of living is right there. I don't think society will be any less productive or poorer because of it, I mean the hours will still be there. It's just the work gets spread out over more people.

I'd ban working more than 5 days a week because some people don't know whats good for them and their community.

What many people seem to forget is that the way of life of foraging isnt sustainable with the amount of people living today. The amount of people that lived in the foraging era of humanity were like 10 million max.

So comes the question, who is allowed to live this life and how many need to die

They really don't, and that's evidenced by an attitude that's exemplified in your post (despite the fact that you may understand the interactions and differences between the thing you brought up and I'm about to talk about): "giving up on maximum health" on matters of health, the vast majority of people only make tenuous, infrequent associations between "health" and "happiness". When people are talking about what's healthier to do, they're almost always framing the idea as what's best for disease prevention. Most are skeptical and dismissive of the idea that actions considered to be "health" activities have a direct and powerful impact on emotional state, and that's because most don't have the attention span and focus involved with recording and classifying the subtle but gradual changes that happen when they're doing them. It's very easy to forget how powerful some "health" practices are, which is a large part of why people get on and off the wagon of it. Actions that are considered to be for "health" are intimately related with happiness, but the plot thickens when you realize that an entire society of people treating their bodies incorrectly leads to a system wherein all its cells have negative impacts on other cells. If you can understand the idea of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, who develop their disorder because of traumas from other people, and continue their disorder with the corruption and destruction of others, and apply that principle to every day life on a level which many don't pay attention to, you understand how large scale, gradual, and difficult-to-change a lot of these negative aspects ultimately related to mistreatment of the body are

Yes people underestimate the benefits, but far more likely than that is people are so ignorant of what works to improve emotional state and wellness and what doesn't because of things like misinformation and lack of exposure that they don't know the tools to get their shit together. It's also not unbelievable that the damage being done to bodies and minds isn't fixable in a person's lifetime

tbh fam

A petting zoo for the adults?

Look up the lump of labour fallacy….
And I would mostly trust to the ability of the individual to work out what's good for him :/
Either there's stuff he wants to buy or he has a family to feed. Or maybe he actually enjoys his work. You know paternalism is just a dangerous idea

That's probably the most important point. Industrial revolution tripled the UK population and doubled the life expectancy. Did even more around the world. Anarcho primitivism would be way worse than Hitler in terms of the dead

The only good things that would come from us not being in civilization would be the relationships between men and women would get better, and no one would be able to get away with being fat.
Other then that, no we wouldn't be better off. Fuck, internet porn alone is worth staying civilization for.

The minority of us with the genetics to survive such an enviroment would be miserable, dirty, diseased, and would die before they're 25.
No one would fucking be happy you idiot, be grateful for what you have.

See dis nigga gets it.

Doesn't that mean though that if we ever reach a stage without scarcity, we can just make an area safe then spend the rest of our days LARPing as cavemen?

nigger detected

we won't though

we need more land
every nation is pozzed
even the north koreans and they don't like the globalism very much

Niggers disprove this theory, only Whites and Asians desire for civilization. We should just send all niggers back to Africa

...

Are you fucking kidding me? All of African history has been of people bullying (read: slaughtering and subjugating) other tribes into joining them or to expand their own territory until' they break under their own weight because they care shit about infrastructure or commanding a large population. The only option is to fight other tribes and steal their peoples and food, and sooner or later you've exhausted all of the local tribes and you split up into smaller tribes again.

I know this is b8. But I believe Africas problem stems from one thing

Niggers can't into civilization

And this stems from the fact niggers can't into Nationalism

Blacks literally cannot into nationalism. They require the white man to set national borders first. If every tribe stopped chimping out and learned basic shit like agriculture then Africa may actually start improving for the first time since whites colonized it

By the way, whites did try to introduce agriculture to the savages, but they refused to learn since they felt it was "too white"

I don't think you know what romani means

Go ask this from the niggers feom Africa amd they can give you an accurate 101 course of nigging in stone age tribe plus they will steal your bike.

u like gypsies fuckboy??
