Any given retard could easily scope out where important grid equipment is and manually sabotage it. Has nothing to do with the internet. Hell theres natural gas transmission stations along any given interstate, usually no more than 1/2 a mile from it and easily accessible, that would cause significant problems if someone were to want to do something crazy.

Shutting off the power isn't that big of a deal. Sure it might disrupt power to homes and a few private businesses. Sure headlines would say billions of dollars in productivity lost.

But the truth is that GDP would fall probably less than half a percent if that happened and steps would ensure it becomes much harder to pull of again.

The real danger is if you do this while simultaneously disrupting phone lines, emergency services in large metropolitan areas, all while carrying out attacks (preferably in multiple locations nationwide). The disorder this would create and the distrust in the government to keep people safe would be rather substantial, especially considering the threat of terrorism here.

If (((ISIS))) (or any sizeable organization) could convert or infiltrate even a small handful of the military leaders to their side, the United States wouldn't even be able to reliably institute marshal law. This last point may sound somewhat realistic until you realize that Obongo is enlisting quite a few foreigners, women, and niggers into the military in the name of diversity so it's not stretch to think that some could be wild jihotties.

I used to work at a grocery store and there was a massive outage in my town and since it was a newer store there were no generators so around 50k worth of meat and dairy was spoiled in the summer heat, for the rest of the month food prices in my town doubled because of losses. power outages are not a fucking joke. most people have no idea how to survive without refrigerators anymore, very few people know about cellaring and very few people stock up on canned goods anymore. I don't have the funds myself but I am really only worried about my family in case of a happening since I really could give two shits about being alive. I am glad my mother knows some canning stuff, but I wish she would get more into it, since the refrigerator lifestyle is very fragile.

also demolition of major highway bridges could effectively starve entire urban areas when the supermarkets cannot get food delivered.

You obviously know nothing about modern generators. They're pretty fucking quiet and run forever on very little fuel. And that's right out of the box. You could always put your generator in a baffled box if you want it to be quieter.
