When the elections came the current PM was promising them bullshit than nobody rational could believe. But they still voted for him. Then he held a referendum on whether or on to accept the EU deal, the people said no, the PM ignored that and said yes anyway. Then they had elections again, the people voted for him again even though he screwed them over 2 times already.

I've heard comments a lot of the line of "that's treason" or "they are hypocrites" or the like but you should probably treat them more like who they really are: Communist subversive infiltrators working for outside forces from the start. It's not a case of them going back on their word, they have always been (with) the enemy.
At least it shows that people here are good people, that it's hard to understand their motives, reasoning and choice of actions rather than be very recognizable in yourself.
