Being able to fuck around and have fun during college while landing full time offers and crusiing through my senior year. Jump starting my career at a prestigious company and receiving multiple raises and promotions since then. Also being humble enough to teach others my learnings. :)

its a relative term. i can pay for all my bills, food, rent, consumable expenses and still have $40k disposable income left over after taxes. every single year. have $40k dispoasble income at 24 is pretty well off. i never said i was rich. and $85k isnt my goal and its not anything impressive. i definitely will make more as time goes on but for now thats my salary and i think it makes me well off for where ia m.

When I was 22 I got hired out of college to Microsoft (early 00s) making ~94k. As a Project Manager on one of their most (internally) prestigious teams. How did I land that? There's no magic, it's just high IQ + out-going personality + good looks + good degree. I'm not taking credit for any of that, it's all one type of luck or another.

So what was the problem? I had all the money and prestige that my heart desired. I was young, good looking, fit, and wealthy. In those days if you were a Microsoft employee in Redmond, you were a king of the city. But after the realization none of these things made me happy, I quit within a year, gave it all up, and drifted around trying to Figure It All Out.

All I know is I'm in a much better place than I was 15 years ago.

My advice to the thread is this: you only have one life, figure out what truly, genuinely and deeply makes you happy and spend your life in the pursuit of it.
