Hundreds, thousands of people work on a movie

explain this

have you not seen a credits scene user? They credit everyone.

You expect people to be able to remember the names of hundreds or thousands of people per movie? People don't want that, people want a movie they enjoy and a few people to thank for it.

Actors get more undeserved credit compared to directors I think.

The people who are most important in this process are the director, the writer, the composer and the cinematographer. Sadly, most of the time they are all under the influence of the producer(s).

But really, nowadays, if a movie gets made, the producer and the writer always get mentions, unless they are started nobodies.

We like cotton too much. It's the white man's burden.

the director controls the entire process. He's at the top of the pyramid

Do you read every name in the credits roll?

Serious question.

No? Then stop being a little bitch about it.

It's called auteur theory, you fucking pleb. Look it up.

He really is the best modern director of our time

I think it's the hair and pouty lips

the director, much like the captian of a ship or a king etc, is responsible for all decisions made about a film. thus, he deserves all the credit as well as all of the blame.
lucas and kubrick were both well known for telling executives to fuck off with their meddling, and in turn created the best known movies of all time.

I suppose so, in that they are both hacks with shitty movies.

Thankfully it means if the movie is shit the blame is also all dumped on the director.

Nigger is becasue you can have the best actor, best costume and best screenplay but with a shitty director you can't create a good movie
Same goes the other way, if you have a master director but a shit actor it go fubar

fukken BASED

It just works.

I think that quote is extremely true as all the recent games Warren has worked on have been total shit. It wasn't him that made those games good, t'was the teams that worked with him.

Deus Ex is god tier, script and development wise.

There's also so much fun shit to do in Deus Ex if you fuck around with commands. spawnmass lam 500 and then run like hell!

Dubs confirm Asko best brand.

James Cameron can do the work of a janitor. But no janitor can do the work of James Cameron.

bump

I doubt he'd be very good at cleaning at all. Doing the same thing day after day can be very difficult as well. Also James has had people to do everything for him for the past 30 years at least, watching over 1000 people clicking on computers doesn't seem very impressive.

Directors over the past couple decades have taken to being a lot more controlling about what all happens with a movie. They don't try delegating duties as much, like letting producers even handle different aspects like setting up locations for shots or arranging for what sort of imagery might be used in different parts of the movie.

It's pretty much a meme now to hate on producers for practically no reason. The main thing they'd ever do is just try to help with smaller aspects of a movie so the director could focus on more important work. Has to make things harder on the director and everyone else involved in the movie's production that now people feel like everything has to hinge on the director rather than just let the guy handle how the shots are done and how the story is put on screen.

studio + producers control far more than the director does, these days.

...

What went right?

Well the guy who makes the lattes is a lot more replaceable and contributes a lot less than the director, the producer, and the writer, so that's probably why he doesn't get all the credit himself.
