its kinda normal in japan as they acknowledge their problems

in western society an adaptation would be too much for everyone and nobody would want to see a "loser" being a loser because it is depressing

the only way it would work on western society is if she ends up with a bf or has sex at the end

but then it will fail to be tomoko and be just another teen drama movie then

plus no white girl can perfectly play a tomoko

EVER

It's Hollywood, you don't think they already have someone lined up for this? You know she'll be the one they pick.

...

It would require significant retooling and couldn't be just a straight adaptation. A lot of the humor/cringe is based on her expecting or wishing for things to work like in anime, games and light novels. There wouldn't be any point in adapting it and it would turn out shit in any case.

You've just memed the Watasarkesian movie into existance. She's a gamergirl who gets to blame all her problems on males and finally breaks through her shell by embracing professional victimism and degeneracy.

hi nupol

Who would play as tomoko? Ellen page?

imdb.com/list/ls073027864/

According to the list I would pick Kyla Deaver,
Mackenzie Foy, Alexa Gerasimovich, Maggie Elizabeth Jones, Joey King,
Savannah McReynolds, and Jade Pettyjohn.

All I know is Mackenzie Foy is probably the best actor since shes the only one I know and she is from Interstellar.

Tomoko is 16.

It's about a single father taking care of his daughter. What makes it the same as K-On or Yuru Yuri?

Sounds like slice-of-life garbage to me. Definitely not the first time I've heard of Father-Daughter anime either.

...

So it's bad because it's SoL and there have already been stories about single parents. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

It doesn't have anything to do with shows like K-On and Yuru Yuri.

>some with hawt hentai pedo loli incest

It's not an argument to say that something has been done before.

I bet you're a fucking Ritsu fag too aren't ya?

Instead of seeing the show for what it is, you're looking at it through the distorted lens of the "slice of life" meme. You have a set of preconceptions about "slice of life" anime and you're criticizing them instead of the show itself.

You said:

It's an argument when said new shit doesn't bring anything new to the table other than cooking and cheap feels you find in dozens of slice of life trash.

>>>/a/503718

Seriously, you guys could not be more autistic. Your berserk anime failed horribly so now you gotta latch on to this shit like dear life. You shits really have nothing better going on and are so desperate for good content that you're literally calling a 3 minute webtoon about farts and a finger puppet show the best summer animes.

Actually, it is. It shows how talentless and creatively brankrupt Japs are getting.
It's an argument because it's just cookie cutter bullshit because they know braindead /a/utists will eat it up like Blizzdrones eating up another WoW expansion.

I'd think I'd be perfect for the role.

The only thing is I don't think any hollywood producer would want to be near me, as I really don't smell so good. I haven't showered in months.

It is the same shit. You just can't bring yourself to accept it so you keep mentioning those two animes even though they're equally dull and unimaginative slice of life shit.

...

It doesn't have to bring anything new to the table, it just has to be good. A lot of Westerners fetishize "originality" to the point where nothing else matters, not even quality.

I'm not from /a/.

I think Berserk is shit.

I don't even know what this is referring to.

Japan is collectively getting talentless and creatively bankrupt because there exists a show that does things that have been done before? That does not make any sense.

Anime is rarely aimed at Western markets.

I'd like to see you try to explain how.

I mentioned them because, again, you said: "mfw it's the same slice of life garbage they've seen a million times over again and again."

I didn't say anything about lolis or feels.

No, Japan is getting talentless because they follow the same anime formats that have existed for a decade. They don't do anything new like they did before the 2000's, instead they go the route Lucky Star took. It's a shame it was well received.

Okay, and?
I don't think I ever referenced Western markets besides comparing Blizzdrones eating shit to weebshits eating shit

...

Tits?

Everyone follows the same formats that have existed for not just a decade, but decades. Yet it's only ever wrong when Japan does it.

Is this the meme that modern anime is nothing but Lucky Star clones? It isn't. Not even close. Those shows make up a small minority of anime.

And you said anime targets /a/.

First you try to associate me with Berkserk, but when it turns out I don't even like it my opinion is discarded. How convinient.

That may be, but the formats are exceedingly prevalent in Anime, whereas other mediums at least try to hide it.

While I disagree with that, what really matters is what is the most mainstream. The most popular anime in Japan consist of moeshit and SoL.
t. Someone who lived in Japan

Anime is more varied than live action TV. People just think it isn't because they don't watch it and all they know is memes and myths.

It's not a matter of opinion.

By viewership, these are the most popular anime:
animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-07-14/japan-animation-tv-ranking-july-4-10/.104320

The data on someanithing.com/series-data-quick-view shows that K-On is the 12th best selling anime and Lucky Star is the 27th.

Living in Japan doesn't mean you magically know everything about it, as you've so aptly demonstrated here.

Also those Miyazaki quotes are fake.

The data you presented clearly shows otherwise.

I don't live in Japan. I got that data from an acquaintance who lives in Japan. I'd also say that living in Japan gives a lot more credibility than whatever you have. It's common sense.

By the way, the data you showed me just proves that Japanese animation is saturated with boring "cute girls doing cute things" moeshit.

no shit

How does it show otherwise?

Well the data is clearly wrong.

This isn't about credibility, this is about data. How many shows there are and how much they sell is data, not opinions.

How does it show that?

Very few guys are slim or cute enough to be a femboy due to their laziness and disgusting diets. It is saddening to see so many of them believe they can ever get a Holla Forums bf without putting in real effort.

I see this shit posted constantly but is their any evidence for it? I don't really watch anime so I don't know if the type of messaging is present, and if so whether it's overt or subtle.

In Hollywood, there are bergs, steins and blatts everywhere, there's the constant murmurs about pedos, Roman Polansky, the Bardem/Cruz blacklisting and of course the Sony e-mail leak.

With the more depraved genres porn, and particularly with interracial, there's the money trail back to you know who.

With this theory, all I ever see is

I'm not dismissing this out of hand. All I'm asking is for you to provide something along the lines of a list of investors in anime or maybe owners of the translating companies, or testimony of an artist who felt pressured to "Moe things up".

Until then it's just joining of random dots with no clear correlation. MS paint comics aren't evidence.

A good live action adaptation of watamote is possible, but VERY unlikely nowadays. It would have had a much better shot 20 or 30 years (if watamote was around at the time) , before PC and SJW culture screwed everything up. No doubt they would change up the core of her character to be a liberal talking head, probably make it centered around her "finding her gender" and some other nonsense. Sorry I am only being real, maybe a few year down the line we will things will change, but as of right now no.

None whatsoever. There's no top-down control in the anime industry, or any agenda. It's not even controlled by TV networks the way networks have a stranglehold on TV in the US.

When it comes to fanservice and moe, what people keep assuming is that the creators are forced to do it against their will because the fans demand it, or the creators are somehow taking advantage of them, but this isn't correct. There isn't much of a distinction between creators and fans in Japan.

The Comiket event is held twice a year, and it's for buying and selling self-published works (doujin works) like manga, games, music and anime. There are over 500,000 attendees total, and 35,000 groups and individuals (circles) selling stuff. Most of it is derivative works like parody manga, and probably most of that parody manga is pornographic. The doujin scene is a good training ground for becoming a manga artist, illustrator or game developer, and many of these circles go professional one way or another and start putting out their own original works. You can probably see where this is going. There are also other events besides Comiket, some of them dedicated to specific works.

Fanservice and moe are also normal in anime, manga etc.. Westerners have just turned them into monstrous bogeymen forced upon everyone by a cabal of otaku and/or company executives, simply because Westerners don't like them and can't see why anyone else would either. Well, anyone other than otaku who by now are seen as something akin to subhumans or aliens.

stupid sexy traps. anime is fucking gay.

These are the people in charge of Rotten Tomatoes

Really makes you think

We never even got a second season. Why should I believe we'll get another adaptation?

impossible, shit cartoon

Even (((hollywood))) has standards. Shitty cartoons fail to meet even those low standards.

the victim complex is off the charts here.

Anime is not cartoons and Hollywood already has produced, is producing and will produce adaptations of anime.

Explaining the facts does not constitute a victim complex.
