Why watch the movie when I can watch it for free and in a shorter run time? One of the few things missing is the Dan Akroyd "I ain't afraid of ghost line" but that's because the editor of the fancut based it on a person's pre-screening account. Just seems like all the women are playing the same character when the trailer clips are put in order.
Had the girls actually had funny lines and acting, I might consider watching it, but not even that, that's my bottom line. Even so, what's the justification in having an all-women team that isn't the ME TOO mentality?

The plot is all wrong.
They should have had aborted babies start rising from the dead and toturing their moms, so a bunch of women's studies professors steal some proton packs from the physics department and set up a business fighting baby ghosts in the name of abortion.
Ecto-1 is all smashed up because they keep jumping curbs, they can't hit anything with their proton lacks and one of them is always crying for no reason. They bitch about whichever one isn't there and go on about how hard their job is.
The bad guy is a pro-lifer who is using the magic of a being called 'God' to raise the dead spirits. He is played by an old white male liberal like Alec Baldwin.

The UK trailer doesn't look so bad. They hid everything but 1 joke at the end and instead it's mostly text, CGI ghosts flying around and them turning on the equipment. If that was the only exposure I had tot it, I would consider it watchable. It's a nasty lie.

Its a spin piece that's blatantly trying to sell the movie to you, but if it's something Sony marketing ordered, rather than just Reitman acting on his own, then it does at least suggest that they're finally aware of just where and how they screwed up on this one.
Far, far too late to make any sort of difference, of course.
I think Reitman was the one mentioned in the emails as getting pushed out, so I doubt he'd come out defending the movie on his own.

True, they're probably dangling the chance to direct a sequel or some other opportunity like that in front of him to secure his cooperation. It's a pretty decent marketing strategy overall, though. He's been kept out of the marketing up to this point, so by coming onto the scene and acknowledging that people are passionate about the old films and might have problems with all the marketing up to this point, he gets to look like an outsider to this whole mess who is being completely calm and rational about it all, thus lending extra weight to his words when he says that the movie is actually a lot better than it's appeared to be thus far.
A lot of the people following this movie's marketing on youtube seem to be more interested in the behind the scenes bullshit going on than in the movie itself, as well, so the fact that he got forced out gives him extra sympathy points with that crowd and lends even more weight to his words when he praises the actual movie.
Of course, if this is the new direction they're going for, they might want to try spending a little money to reign in people like the second author in , because if the rabid feminist attack dogs turn around and start trying to tear Reitman to shreds for daring to contradict the misogyny narrative it's only going to come out looking even worse for the movie in the end… But then, as I said, this is already a case of too little, too late, so it probably doesn't actually matter anyway.
