Yeah, he was my first room mate. He was also a Chinese immigrant on a visa and about 7 years older than me. We met through work, and at the time he seemed stable enough. I was 19 and living out of my car, which is a whole another story, and needed a place to stay. He was renting a house from a landlord, and told me there was a room available. I didn't have to sign a lease or anything, so I thought why the hell not. The arrangement was mutually beneficial, until he started dating a girl that moved into the same home. Overtime, he became increasingly paranoid that she was cheating on him because we went to see a movie together. Keep in mind, I knew her before he did, and I never really thought she was that attractive. We were just friends.
Months into their relationship, we end up on bad terms after he starts harassing me about things that no longer make sense. He got really pissed one time about the way I walk, and gave me a long rambling lecture about how to walk, because apparently he was in a gang back in China where no one walked like that. I have no idea if he really was in a gang or not, and I'm still not sure what he meant. One night, I get home late from work and decide to tidy things up before I go to bed. I knew I was taking a risk because his room was right below mine, and he hated hearing me move around while he was trying to sleep. But I also could hear him screwing his girlfriend as loud as possible, so I figured he wouldn't mind.
The next morning, I'm eating a bowl of cereal on the couch, and he walks up to me in nothing but his underwear, mad as hell. While I'm sitting there, he start's shoving me and yelling at me about the noise I made the other night. I tell him that I didn't think it would be such a big deal after the racket he made fucking his girlfriend. This gets him livid and he starts really shoving me. I'm still munching on Capn' Crunch, watching the news, thinking he'll eventually run out of steam like he usually does. That mother fucker picked up a glass ashtray off the coffee table and started hammering my skull in with it. I was knocked completely unconscious, and his girlfriend had to pull him off of me. She calls the cops and they end up taking him away after telling me I shouldn't have "agitated" him by talking about his girlfriend. I end up having to go to court to sue him so I can pay my medical bills because I live in burgerland. Doctor told me I was lucky he didn't kill me, because I fell asleep after I had the concussion. I needed an MRI and stitches. I'm still worried that shit gave me brain damage sometimes. Also, years later he tries to get a hold of me through his girl friend, like nothing happened. Then not much longer after that, they break up and she kills herself.I didn't find that out till recently, though. Needless to say, I've been in therapy for years
