"Muh Christian universalism"

How many of the Christians on this board (or people professing to be Christian) actually practice Christianity (i.e. pray, go to church, fast during Lent) vs. how many just "like the *idea* of Christianity" and are entirely atheist in everyday life? Has anyone studied the Church Fathers and all of the early Christian debates around the nature of Jesus, the Trinity, etc., or is this board's knowledge of Xtianity mainly limited to KierkegÄrd, Badiou, and Zizek?

This isn't a "gotcha!"; I'm genuinely curious. Pic related is of the oldest sect of Xtian orthodoxy.

Not a christfag, but in my experience christaian girls are major sluts who will fuck easily. Usually vanilla and not cool enough to be gf material though.

Usually it's the Evangelical housewife vs. Catholic whore.

Protestants are whores as well fam.

Not a single fucking one except for maybe that skinhead turned Christian commie who said he found Jesus after he got outta jail who sometimes posts here. The rest of them are just tradcoms (traditional communists) who as you said just like the idea of Christianity for the wholesomeness The Bible preaches. Holla Forums's way worse when it comes to this. You've got a decent number of history nerds LARPing as crusaders on there too.

Oldest surviving church. You can thank the catholics for destroying the oldest one, by severing it first, then attacking the divided body.

So why even attempt to link it to "Christianity"?

For a board which claims to hate idpol, Holla Forums's Xtianity sure does seem like an ethno-cult for chauvinist white boys.

What Church was that?

Antioch doesn't listen to Rome and neither do the Greeks, Russians, Bulgarians, etc.

It has no name but it had one idea: Gnosis.

Gnostics never had a Church though.

Gnosticism is also pretty anti-universalist. It believes salvation is only for the Elect, very similar to Calvinism (or Judaism).

Theres whores everywhere. I'm from fucking sandland you think we don't have whores? Why does this need to be said

Mormon girls are the worst.

The Orthodox Church obviously.

4th Crusade ironically destroyed Christianity in the Middle-East and consequently allowed the Turks to siege Vienna without a coherent counter part to contain them in Anatolia.

No it doesn't. The Cathars for instance had no concept of hell as modern Christians do. Salvation wasn't being brought up to Abraham's bosom to await the judgment day, it was reuniting your soul with God. Damnation wasn't being confined to Sheol to wander till you would be placed with the goat, it was failing to achieve gnosis and being reincarnated.

The Eastern Church doesn't even have a concept of hell. Modern understandings of "hell" come from Dante and aren't even found within the early Roman Church.

I don't particularly like any of the church's in my area but that's really just an excuse for being lazy. The better excuse is that I'm a Lutheran and believe more in the personal communication with God than needing some special building or medium.

I know that. The damned are sent to Sheol. The saved are also sent to Sheol, but a specific part of Sheol which isn't as unpleasant.

OP pic is literally of an Antiochian Orthodox mass.

traditionalists are fags

There are many Holla Forumsers who like invoking "Christianity" as an excuse to shit on idpolers.

TBH the Reformation was a huge mistake.

Pretty sure I'm the only non-ironic Protestant who regularly attends church on this board.

I'm only a socdem tho.

the church will be gone in communism

youre operating with the presupposition that you need to attend church to follow the teachings of Jesus. Read Tolstoy.

Protestants are subhuman and get the wall

What about Jews?

you'll die first, then the jooz

There's mostly filthy heretics here because social conservatism is rare here. Y'all gonna get purged.

Nice try, reactionary.
Each to their own, but the purging part is what struck you out.
And not even because we have tanquis, but because "social" conservatism is meaningless.

I have no idea why the christcoms on this board are usually some of the edgiest people here. My idea of a christcom is someone like Tolstoy, someone with very lofty principles who goes around talking about loving your enemy and forgiveness and non-violence, not someone talking about gulags and executions.

Practicing Catholic here

tanquis?

Jews invented communism.

Cathars were 1000 years after Christianity became a thing. What makes you think they were the "first Christianity?"

I take it you're one of those Occitan separatists. WE WUZ GNOSTIC GOD-MEN 'N' TROUBADOURS 'N' TEMPLARS 'N' MERRRRRRDDDDUHHHHH.

Tankies but I like spelling it badly

I really couldn't care less about religion, but I do my best to adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ. I've also had the opportunity to befriend several devout worshipers, and most of them are rather sympathetic to socialist ideas.

Then again, many of the clergy I've met would be counter-revolutionary as well. The charity I once worked at was run out of a church, and the council in charge of the latter was comprised entirely of comfortable middle-class folk. They constantly tried to push us out the door, and the one time we forced them to actually help out, they wrinkled their noses at the homeless and destitute that visited our soup kitchen.

It seems as if the word of God has been perverted to serve as a justification of the current state of affairs, as it was in every society before ours.

The teachings of JC *are* religion.

In my mind, I've always envisioned a difference between "religion", which necessarily involves worship of a higher power; and "philosophy", which does not. However, this isn't a topic I ponder on a frequent basis, so I'm not very articulate on the matter.

There shouldn't be any dichotomy between religion and philosophy. Both are a search for truth. Not all religions involve submission nor do they all view God in the same manner.

Gnostics believe you're only Gnostic because you were "chosen" by God or some shit. It's not at all a universalist system.

Christianity would most likely not survive after the revolution. Most churches have hierarchies, and the ones that don't (Evangelical Protestants) are some of the most reactionary people on earth.

Not a christian (deist) but i have a fondness for Christianity having been raised around the catholic church, been a choirboy when i was little and considered studying divinity and becoming a priest at one point.
