Lmao, next up on "Your Public School's Funding Has Been Cut", we'll find out just how easy it would be to get that money, and why we will never do it.

Releasing these things all at once is intentional:

And again nothing will happen.

Jesus, look at all those Leaf ex-PMs.

previous tax haven leak

Plausible, though between Süddeutsche, the Guardian, NYT and the beeb you'd think they had the resources to scour the data for anything interesting.
It might of course not be in their interest to release the most interesting findings.

Maybe Marx was right and the anglos will lead us to Communism? It's a common narrative motif, the least committed and faithful companion in the end saves the day and redeems the cause in the eleventh hour. Wouldn't be surprised tbqh. Plus if anglos start the class war I won't need to learn a foreign language to fight in the Revolution™.

Tbf, not her directly: it is her estate. She can operate on plausible deniability.

Somewhere, someplace, Tony Benn is watching us fulfill his vision.

B-BUT AẞAD IS ANTI-IMPERIALIST THIS CAN'T BE TRUE

Probably, though there seems to be some political will to do something about tax havens.
Not that I have much faith in the people (the political class) hiding their money in tax havens to truly restrict tax haven fuckery.
This would be an excellent opportunity for the EU to be actually useful, as the bloc as a whole would have much more clout to push through some restrictions or regulations. Maybe enough influence to establish global standards, even. Then again Juncker has history of enabling tax evasion in Luxembourgish politics.

See the thing that people don’t seem to realize about tax evasion is that from a legal standpoint it’s a form of theft, and if you are a regular person who relies on public services (so basically everybody) then it’s money coming right out of your own pocket. It’s rich slimy scumbags stripping the asphalt off our roads and taking school books from our kids, and I don’t know why people aren’t angrier about it.

because people still think that when Liberals give lip service to "combatting" these tax havens, they actually follow up on the rhetoric.

Because people are serfs.

Why the fuck do they use tax havens anyway. It's not like they can use that money, so who cares if it's taxed? Do you have to be a sociopath to understand porky?

dude people will break the law no matter what so we better not do anything about it lmao
t. liberal

Tbh, the UK is falling apart at our feet.

lol at HK being bigger than China

That gives them some potential

I was fully liberal but learning what 40 years of neoliberalism has done to this country plus 7 years of austerity after the Great Recession has me ready to make Stalin look like a fucking Kulak.

Too good

And I was hoping November wouldn't be a ride through hell.

Is this not getting mainstream press? I feel like it would?

Not to mention it’s being prepared by the same ICIJ that carefully tailored the Panama Papers to be more damaging to the geopolitical rivals of the West then the West itself and against the rebellious Icelandic politicians who had resisted the efforts of Western bankers to bleed that country dry. Don’t get me wrong tho, it’s not like I have any sympathy for Russian or Chinese billionaires or corrupt Icelandic politicians but it really does make you think…

It is the main story on the BBC, so yes.

case closed, Johnson
the company says it did nothing wrong

it is due to Trump's Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross

these too

It isn't, but you lefty ameri retards will believe anything, that's why the rest of the world knows the left doesn't exist in faterica

The gay-nato-whasing?

Well, paradisepapers are homophobic now

THANK YOU. Anybody who expects the full scale of tax evasion and other schemes to be reported in Süddeutsche, Guardian or NYT is just naive. What a coincidence these leaks are only damaging to non-western oligarchs but don't report a single thing about western oligarchs!

...

...

How was it? Ah yes, burden of proof. Go on and try work on it

corporations aren't people, and you live and grow up on a land that was produced and maintained by the state and society. Taxes are just repaying your debt.

Spooky

Why?

...

Would love to know if Wyoming is implicated in this again.

one may dream

Tax havens do hurt the EU as an institution, and its power. Maybe the powerful, undemocratic institution-side of the Union has enough incentive to actually push hard for some kind of a tax haven blacklist. If it is serious or authoritative, it might become a de-facto global norm, since the total financial assets within EU are no laughing matter for the bankers, not even if a significant part of it leaves with the UK.

Wat

Regardles of how low a country's taxes may be, a rich cunt will always seek to pay as little as possible. That's the nature of the bourg, to maximize profit and income. What states have to do in order to keep their countries and people in check is to ban this from happening. They need to go full auth in order to keep the taxes and social security flowing.
The irony of all this is that they will have to fight the possibility of a revolution by creating more and more programs that go hand in hand with socialism. I can't help but wonder if reformists are right, only that it'll take a thousand years longer than they think.
Either that or these programs don't see the light of day and the need for revolution is accelerated
