I agree I'd keep the hammer and not have much use for a sickle.

Interestingly, there are masses of poor indian farmers still using the hand sickle. There was a relatively recent campaign to introduce the scythe to them. A much more efficient way to harvest wheat and grasses, freeing these poor laborers to do more for themselves.

It was interesting to see, in an age where people are circle jerking over "internet of things", smart devices and trans-humanist ideology that large regions of earth still just need basic upgrades like sickle to scythe.

No what will happen is that with there being less need for farm labor some peasants will have to leave there farms and go work in coal mines for money and work in worse conditions. An upgrade would OBVIOUSLY be better once socialism is achieved, but not under capitalism.
