using memes in class is a terrible idea and no one should do it.

Remind me who attacked who's settlement first? Oh right, it's okay when people kill other people over muh land when they are wearing feathers on their head
Don't start a fight if you can't finish it.

you have to be 18 years of age to post here, little one

I'm 18 nigger

what do you think would happen if our future empires went back in time for reasons that we could barely understand using their advanced technology to make their will a reality? that they'd be benevolent and show us a good time?

A good civilization advanced enough will have reached Star Trek communism and not cause this trash.

The APUSH curriculum is highly liberal and teachers often spin it that way. You guys read Zinn, but you are not left to critically think about his writing and everything boils down to muh whites, muh privelige, and we should feel bad rather than "CLASS WAR NAO KILL THE RICH". So take that as you will.

Even they knew they'd cause a shit show. Prime directive as in 'First' as in important.

What state are you in? What is your State history curriculum like ?

don't delude yourself my man, they were uncivilized because they didn't know any better, not because they liked living with disease and war and famine and all those other wonderful factors that have been plaguing humanity since time immemorial.

look on the bright side, at least Europeans had the decency to TRY and make their lives better, but given their current state of affairs of failing to run their own governments, i'm not sure it was worth it.

Hey I'm taking APUSH and I'm doing the same exact era as you, OP. The only difference being that they didn't use cringy memes and they brought us different perspectives (they once made us read an excerpt from Howard Zinn's A People History of the USA)

Was this before or after the sinking of Thule?

Remind me who enslaved people.

Top kek

We dindu nuffin.

there were native civilizations tho, the incas and mayans were very advanced. Not all natives were "mother earth must be protected" hippies.

drop out of the bourgeois institution

They're just trying to prepare you for indoctrination into Incan Socialism.

yeah when someone just decides to move in on the land you're currently using and decides to destroy the ecology, murder your family, and take anything they consider valuable back over the ocean, you're really in the wrong for attacking them.

Bruh

They were a lot more advanced than you seem to think. We even are still learning a few things from them at times, such as how to terraform soil with bacteria.
theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2002/03/1491/302445/

Well, it's not wrong, and arguing about it now isn't going to help. There's nothing that anyone can do to make it not have happened or to make up for it because everyone who was involved is now dead.

Move along, get on with your lives, and be aware of your place in history.

I see, the natives were the true imperialists all along

Le noble savage.

Mayas, incas, aztecs

this is american education

Stop moralizing Columbus, he didn't do nuffin
marxistsfr.org/archive/marx/works/1847/11/30a.htm

not even surprised

That's like saying 'stop talking about WWII because there's nothing you can do about it'. It's a history class so they need to learn and think critically about these events.

This is why we shoot you.

Bring the glory of Marxist anthropology to the classroom

This is some middle school material, friendo.

that it was a historical inevitability doesn't mean he's absolved or something

Could be worse, OP. I'm being passive aggressively pressured by threat of failure and debt to buy a script for a play I have zero, fucking, interest in reading and is being manipulated at every turn, used as bait to attract brain dead model wannabes in a huckatown radius, and falsely interpreted by those very people who seek not only to destroy art but to drop students by the thousands a year into further debt just so a few girls can enjoy the thought of a strong and independent woman. And this is just one of like 6 scripts I'm gonna have the displeasure of not being able to pretend like I liked what I read and take brain dead heat from a bunch of creative slaves. It's a god damn Fundamentals of Theatre class and I've already gotten my fucking Associates in Fine Arts with a focus in Theatre. And I'm not fucking particularly thrilled about taking a god damn 4!,000 course that's about teamwork and learning how to read, with a little bit of socio-political science.

The fuck? $1,000
next I believe is a a fucking Raisin in the Sun. This teacher is probably the worst thing about this school's Theatre program, without a shadow of a doubt.

Holy fucking shit lmao! The worst part is that they probably can't even teach more sophisticated shit because no one would understand it. Older generations have fucked us super hard through thoroughly shitting up the education system.

That's exactly what it is. Kids speak like they're fucking texting or typing, with pauses, 'likes' and 'uhh's in abundance in every fucking sentence and it makes me want to smash my head against the wall, when after waiting for almost two minutes for this person to finish speaking all they've done is circle back to their first sentence as a summary in response to something totally different to what the teacher originally asked. And it's because they think, "Well, at least I tried and spoke out." When the question is something like, "Who did you like and not like in the play?"

Besides, high school theatre is typically more fun for students when the prospect of ten thousand dollar debt is nonexistent. And places put on kids shows for people under 18 and kids probably can't see themselves having anymore fun beyond that when they're being graded for it. Then they hit college and what better way to keep them there than to feed them the fantasy land garbage they were gettin high on in high school? By the way, teachers in college are now giving out those well-written journals and essays from online and, and the teachers are pretending like they've got something interesting to say based off the writings.

I bet your teacher isn't even a feminist that wears thick frame glasses and has a horribly obnoxious laugh and wears dresses to class unironically.

Christ you're a faggot. Ahistorical right wing content is rammed down kid's throats in regular high school classes but you take an AP class and you're suddenly triggered by some mildly ahistorical left wing content? Kill yourself, cuck. Columbus wasn't a nice dude, believe it or not.

You know, believe it or not, you can have problem with both user.
Also liberals aren't leftists and politics of your curriculum is probably going to depend on your geographics, not everyone lives in the deep south of the US
Also stop being triggered

...

Sure, but right-wing shit is waaaaaaay more prevalent and doesn't get nearly as much attention as "muh liberal propaganda".
Sure, it depends on whether you live in a """red state""" or a """blue state""", but liberals repeat/propagate right-wing talking points a lot.
How am I triggered? I wasn't complaining about anything, I was insulting you, faggot.

What did he mean by this?

I meant that curricula in the US includes right-wing bullshit way more than left-wing bullshit. But despite this, right-wingers whine about "muh liberal propaganda" constantly.

Not OP, but OP was just posting stupid shit relating to his class because it pertains to him at the moment. If it was right wing we would be mocking it as well. You are complaining.

Shut the fuck up, the source of this image is twitter.com/WholesomeBard/status/905584147070152706 so clearly it's not something that pertains to OP at the moment, and if it is then he's an annoying esoteric twitter trad who should kill themselves.
If the right-wing said something that wasn't entirely wrong and people were mocking it I'd probably defend it tbh.
No, you're complaining.

Give me 1 (one) example of this

Are you joking? Like 20% of history classes is learning about how bad communism is without learning anything further about Russian history.

user, your by definition complaining. Yes we're complaining as well, but we're not hiding it. Also, the curriculum appears to frame the natives as somehow "noble" and seems to try and moralize Columbus.

Sounds like you just went to a bumfuck school mate. My condolences.

Fyi, "Left-wing curriculum" for the most part doesn't really exist in the states, only different shades of neoliberal. "Liberal" is still right-wing.

Lmao, so this is an annoying twitter trad then.

Considering that for over two hundred years the common american curriculum has been that "indians are stupid savages that got beat by the superiority of the whyte man", I don't think its such a tragedy that they're now teaching some dumbed down bullshit about "muh noble savage."
To be perfectly honest its still completely insulting to the indians so seems pretty fucking right wing to me:

My micro economics teacher is a fucking Ancap whose entire economic policy is deregulate markets and lower taxes. He started the first day of class off by saying that North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela are all Communist, and that China is half Communist half Capitalist hybrid. He also this Socialism is when the government does stuff and believes the United States is part Socialism.
Surprisingly, my American History teacher is redpilled as fuck, talking about how the Inca, Aztecs, and Mayans had their shit together while Europe was shitting itself, and that their societies, were in many ways more economically advanced than first world countries today.

I went to the best High School in my state and we still got shit like OP.

Burger education.

...

I know this probably isn't representative, but by European History class actually spent more time on Soviet atrocities than the Holocaust, which got a weirdly passing mention.

Stalin did kill a lot of people. What, your teacher is supposed to say "the kulaks deserved it they wuz counterrevolutionary n shiet"?

leave

Shocking. I'm not attacking Stalin, I'm asking what you expect a US teacher to say?

Reminder that by the time they were conquered, the Inca were reliably able to perform surgery on the skull to tread head trauma.

You're the illiterate making false equivocations between autistic screeching about "muh hundreds of milllions" and "gotta break some eggs for an omelet du fromage" sort of killing.
The leftcom was polite not to point it out but you failed to address three out of his four points.
Go home and bathe you smelly kid.

I didn't read this post. Get reading comprehension, pussy.

lawl

...

A total disaster.

Because of economic systems. What, you don't think literally everyone else was attempting the same thing and would have if given the chance? Many countries we're already in a proto-capitalist stage and we're persuing new markets and materials. African royalty and tribe leaders we're enslaving and exporting enemy tribes, China was finding new trade routes and doing whatever was necessary to secure them, the Dutch we're getting into some nasty stuff, the Spanish seizing island territories, Japan killed off its natives, etc.. If Columbus didn't do it someone else would, it was a historical inevitability. Engels supported American incursions and seizing of land in Mexico (that quote is actually Engels) and Marx supported British occupation of India. They were pre-capitalist, others were capitalist, do the math.

*were

Hm…

The specter of economic systems didn't do it by itself, it needed hands to do it, which for the most part, were white. If things ended up differently with another race being the primary oppressor, then that supremacy narrative would still need to be confronted.
Of course, Marx and Engels would support imperialism. It's just basic dialectics but I wouldn't expect a fucking phone poster to understand.
Don't take it so personally next time whitey.

But nobody, save for the alt-right and some far-right conservatives, are pushing that supremacy narrative anymore. Hell, you'll be hard pressed to find anybody saying anything explicitly positive of Columbus outside of the context of the times. I don't see how mentioning how terrible the "hands" were serves anybody when everyone was at one time or another Don't know why my race is important, I'm only partially white and native on that side as well

Hoo boy, somebody posts those Inca images, or an archive to that Inca thread.

First step to solving a problem is admitting you have one
now fucking do something about it you lazy fucking crybaby cunts
I'll start this shit if I fucking have to I'll have you know

The thank you capitalism post is on the first page you tryhard.

...

...

For a board that boasts about being literate, you sure still haven't learned the difference between monotheism and polytheism.

the what do what?

Incans did nothing wrong, unironically

Chew you have a single satisfact to snack that up?

My cousin dragged me off to watch that god awful play, it was dumb as all hell.

...

Everyone. Everyone has practiced slavery when they were powerful enough to do so. Indians enslaved other Indians and raped women of other tribes. This idea of the noble savage is nonsense.

Putting "Indians" in the same fucking category pan continent is really intellectually dishonest. The Kwakwaka'wakw are not the same culture as the fucking Iroquois, and the Iroquois, are not the same culture as the Navajo.

And? What point are you trying to make? Not all Indians?

Indeed, slaving past or not tribe depending, what colonizing forces did to the Native Americans over the span of those centuries, is unjustifiable. This is second grade history.

Not all cultures that are separate entirely by vast spaces, can be linked together in one group ("Indian"), that's just historically dubious bullshit a third grade student would do.
