I live in India now & there's constant blackouts(although I refilled my backup generator, finally), so I have to fill out captchas often after those. I still get (you)s though, so I think it may be fine. I hope that doesn't affect your ability to see my post history well. Don't know how I'd go about fixing that. I'm guessing it's safe to say I may be the only Indian poster in my area of IPs, though, if that's easily traceable.

I have only responded to one email (so check your emails), because pretty much all the applicants had no post history. I guess from one perspective, this is a positive thing, because it means a lot of the users here are using VPNs or dynamic IP now and have better security. But on the other hand, it is making the application process take longer.

I am going to respond to more emails later, even for people with no history. I will just have to be cautious and pay close attention to Volunteer actions after accepting more volunteers.

Qtox is what we use to communicate outside of the Holla Forums inline mod messaging system. It's what we used to keep in contact during the April fool's hack. I would have already helped the new mods get setup, but hurricane Irma disconnected me from the series of tubes so I'm stuck phoneposting for the time being. Barely anybody's on ever, but it's useful in case Holla Forums goes down like it did in April. I'll be able to help anyone who wants tomorrow from ~12:30pm to ~2:15pm US DST or from ~7pm to ~12am US DST

The inline mod messaging system is weird. In order to start a new message with someone, you have to click their name and if you haven't exchanged any messages with them before, you have to go to the ban list page and click on the name of the mod you want to message. All of my recent bans have been pushed off the ban list page, so I've banned myself so any new mod can message me. Give me a heads up if you want help getting set up on qTox.

Note to new mods, we try to keep our ban messages short and keep personality out of them. If you start putting long explanations for the ban as the ban message, trolls will see it as a way to instigate drama, and it will also make your work more time-consuming. Something simple like a one or two-word ban reason or a copy-pasted line from the rules is fine.
