Isn't East Berlin the side with all the nice architecture though? What gives?

Lol

Hungarians hate communism, I'm not sure why you thought they liked it.

they hate liberal capitalism more tbh

It's always weird like that. They're constantly shitting on anything vaguely related to socialism or Russia, in the most petty ways possible. Yet every time some poll or survey asks if they think things were better under communism, most of Eastern Europe and former Soviet republics say yes.

What a conundrum! Could it be that the privately owned media constructs a narrative that directly goes against what people think?

But it's the same media publicizing both things tho.

"torn down"
It was probably destroyed during WWII, when the communists were fighting Nazi Germany.

And reactionary Hungary which fought alongside the Nazis for their personal gain.

There was nothing to tear down there lol, it was empty.

To be fair brutalism is kinda ugly, except for public buildings.

Brutalism is always ugly. Just like glass pillars.

OP's pic isn't brutalism.

It can look okay, but it's not preferable. Glass pillars are aesthetic.

apply yourself

also this

Both of you fuck off.
Brutalism is fucking ugly because its unmaintabable. Concrete crumbles and wears, its coarse and has wide flat monocoloured planes. This makes it very easy to have mosses, discolouration, graffiti.
Due to its nature you cannot fix it without breaking the idea of brutalism. Fixing a crack means a different colour of concrete in it. Fixing graffiti means discourlouration. You cannot paint over it or work it into the existing pattern.

That is why brutalism is ugly, in 1-10 year it looks like an impoverished pauper building.

Also glass pilars are objectively ugly and I will not stand for their continued existance on this planet.

Which timeline are you from?

source?

It's burger geography.

Modern architecture was a mistake.

Ever notice how contemporary fascists and their sympathizers constantly imply that communism is somehow still on the loose and needs to be confronted? Kind of strange.

stop making a fool out of yourself with your shitty unlivable buildings made for stuck up kings and aristocrats

...

Why use unpainted concrete though? There's plenty of "raw" architecture that actually looks good.

That isnt brutalism. Brutalism is explicitly about using unpainted conrete.

I agree that non-brutalist raw architecture can look good as fuck.

Jawas are socialists now?

Why are certain people so opposed to aesthetics?
You do realize that all the labor currently exploited through rent and mortgage interests could actually be used to create impressive towns and cities, right?

And before someone brings up the homeless argument: We already have enough houses sitting empty.

This "In socialism everyone lives in grey commie blocks" meme needs to die.

I don't like brutalism either, but baroque isn't much better.

easily impressed bootlicker detected tbh

I think from your insistence on thia art I can officially diagnose you as a faggot.

Why? Too busy? I'm not really a fan of baroque interiors though.

But why though?

Idk. There's just a lot of baroque in my country, so I don't really see it as very impressive. Just looks plain and normal to me. Meanwhile, brutalism looks like someone made a bet with the architect to see if he could design a building using only rectangles and concrete.

none of what you've posted is aesthetic tho

It's called doublethink.
