Boxing is incredibly technical, there's very little in the way of brute force. Sluggers rarely make it out of the B-leagues without changing up their style to more intelligent punching. Unless you're one of those french guys from the 1880s who thinks the most violent sports should get is wrestling there's no reason to not consider boxing a proper fight sport.

I actually agree with the no gloves thing though. You'd substantially reduce the brain damage rates if guys were forced to more carefully punch to the head and throw mostly body shots due to hand damage. Plus palm strikes rule. Pancrase rules now.
