Merkel, and even moreso her party, has always been about as fascistic as she could get away with. The limitation is that they have to maintain Deutsch dominance in the EU. I doubt Merkel needed Trump's approval for this, it suits both the German hard right and international neoliberalism.

Sure, I know that, CDU has always been the party of the nazi holdouts who feel like WW2 was the worst thing to happen to them personally. But Merkel who passed her ML exams in East Germany needs someone to tell her what to do. She has zero creativity or political instinct.

I think she's actually quite shrewd. The American president, at best, convenienced her here. Merkel might seem pretty autistic, but it's in a rainman kind of way. Trump's more of a lego-and-bouncy-balls kind of "savant."

i disliked these antigerman/sjws anyway. they always worked hard to support the reactionary narrative about leftists and leftism in media and politics. so i'm kinda glad that anti-germans and "autonome" (or whatever these smashie retards call themselves) lost their attention whoring central. right wingers lost a means to conduct and publish false flag attacks via that platform (they did it several times).
on the other hand it's not good since it shows how close the bourgeois liberal-conservative mainstream is actually to the afd reactionaries. this is part of a broad campaign against leftists that started right after the g20 riots, which also targets alternative youth centres everywhere in the country. in my city CDU and PRO politicians attempted to close down a youth centre, even though it's just a venue for all sorts of concerts, with a very light leftist bias perhaps. they faced broad opposition from all sorts of citizens though, so it's off the table for a moment.

Didn't like Indymedia particularly, but they had the best reporting on antifascism in Germany. Their comment section in particular was terrible.

SPD and CDU both hate the left, and going after Indymedia is just the start of a wider campaign against the left, they think they can get away with it and they probably will get away with it.

cdu is almost as far-right as the afd, so is the fdp under lindner. however the bourgeois-liberals (greens and particularly the spd) always wanted to get rid of die linke because they can't false flag convincingly as social democrat worker's party when a real social democrat/communist worker's party is in the bundestag too. now they both shit their pants after the debacle (5%) for hollande's neoliberals and mélenchons rise (20%) in france as well as the rise of leftist parties in southern europe. they are in fear of becoming irrelevant now and the spd has proven numerous times what vile, traitorous bastards to the working class they can be. they are in the gov right now. i'm pretty sure it was them who pushed for this anti-left campaign during election, no matter if schulz tries to come off as center-left.

It was really small, and indymedia in general used to be much more important place than now, the era of everybody being on Facebook (whyyyyyyyyyy). There really isn't some big dominating lefty internet platform in German language, and maybe that's a good thing. There are tons of very small fora and mailing-lists. There is a hoster for "alternative" blogs (everything from anarchists to communists and a bunch of vegans and a few antigerman idiots thrown in for good measure) called blogsport.de (go to planet.blogsport.de for an overview). And if you like cancer, there are also German versions of facebook meme shit and weird twitter (that's even less funny than you think it is, and you can read this sentence three times and think about it, and it's still true then).

Always hated linksunten.indymedia, but it's clear they will not stop with the smashies. Germany is doing everything in its power to be the worst place for the radical left right now. Last month the ban for all Rojava symbols in public (including apartment raids by the SEK and confiscation of laptops for as much as posting a YPG flag on Facebook), and now the smashies are being dealt with. Marxist-Leninists are being under constant surveillance by the political police (euphemistic: "Verfassungsschutz") ever since. I personally know comrades who can't even do their PhD for as much as being a member of a socialist party.

actually i'd say merkel has quiet a lot of political instinct in terms of staying out of trouble/ not making any controversial statements at all. the exception would be the "we can do it" refugee stuff she said every liberal fucktard loves her so much for but actually she basically withdrew even that some months later
